Description

Keep Connor-Dubois-Svech together for obvious reasons

Copp can be reliable and effective with top line minutes while making up for Scheif’s defensive liabilities

Finally give ehlers his deserved first line spot (ik he’s in a slump atm but he creates so many chances and is such a fun talent to watch)

Wheeler and Stas’s age is showing but they can still be effective with limited roles

An underrated fourth line who will have their chances throughout the game while being defensively reliable

Wheeler belongs on 3rd line, he’ll play on second pp but 5v5 he’s simply not reliable with top 6 minutes

it's going to unbelievable when - after seeing all the chemistry between Connor/Dubois/Svech and Copp/Scheif/Ehlers - Maurice is going to ignore all that and push out CSW every other shift regardless.

Connor and PLD look like entirely different players playing with each other and Svech and Copp's two way game works wonders with Scheif and boy wonder Ehlers. How is this not our top 6????

Let Wheeler boost the 3rd line offence and catch his breath. Its a ****in win for everyone.

Only change i would make later in the year, would be Gus for Lowry and Lowry in between harkins and vaselainen. Just to ensure that Maurice would have to roll all 4 lines. Fresh Wheeler and or stastny for pp would be my sell on the plan. Like the depth and hunger for a solid season. Kind of nice to see kind of a buffy replacement in Schmidt. Not in size and brute force, but energy/attitude/swagger, kind of brings the energy up of the squad. Just an opinion

Sean Reynolds (Sportsnet) noted that Maurice was intrigued with having Dubois and Connor on the same line last year. Now that it is working very well maybe Maurice keeps Dubois-Connor together even after everyone is back to full health. When Wheeler makes his return, I suspect he will be eased in on the 3rd line to start but eventually settle in on the 2nd line unless Svechnikov is on fire.
