Buffalo has a winning record right now, how is Montreal doing? How long will it last? Who knows for sure? But you know, recency bias.

laugh laugh How in the heck are you getting Shane Wright when you don't even have your 2022 1st round pick next year? What a joke pretty hard to win the lottery when you don't even have a 1st to win the lottery with. shakes head

They have a protected 1st in the Dvorak trade, so if they are in the bottom 10 in the league they have their pick, and thus a shot at 1OA

It's top 10 protected, so if one or both of our picks are in the top 10, the worse pick gets sent to Buffalo.

Remember though, the Canucks began the 2016-17 season with a 4-0 record so there's that

Sure, but were the Canucks predicted to be the worst team ever coming into that season? That’s pretty much all the Sabres and their fans have heard for the last six months. Maybe they wouldn’t have the worst record in NHL history this season, but they would almost certainly have the worst record in their entire 51 year history. Right now the Sabres have more wins than anyone thought they were going to get in the first month of the season. However long it lasts I plan on enjoying it.

The biggest thing is the noticeable effort they are putting out every game. As far as Sabres fans are concerned if the team continues to try, and leave it all out on the ice, at least I am OK with whatever happens. Working harder than the other team keeps you in games when you don’t have the talent the other guy does. If they give you 100% every night they go out there that’s really all we actually wanted. I’d rather lose close games because we did everything we could than lose games because it doesn’t look like you care.

The Canucks were literally projected to finish last that year. Had it not been for COL collapsing they even would have

People have been putting buffalo in last place for the last two years minimum. This year there was no reason to think they would be any better, in fact the prevailing wisdom said they would be even worse. Goes to show you what a difference coaching can make. Ralph Krueger had a more talented roster that could not have played more uninspired hockey. Don Granato has on paper and one of the weakest talentwise rosters the Sabres have ever had, but right now they are playing hard, inspired hockey.

That I agree with, Granato has been doing a decent job but I'm just warning you about the 2017 Canucks. Back then we were all excited after the 4-0 start, but then the bottom slowly fell out

Young Padawan, You think you can teach a Buffalo fan about disappointment? I may only be 35, but disappointment in the sports world is a way of life in Buffalo. Buffalo against the world isn’t just a catchy T-shirt phrase, it’s the reality we have come to know and embrace. Hope never dies, but sustained success is never expected. We know all too well that failure creeps around every corner, and we are never surprised when it comes to visit us yet again. But you may know all that already. Vancouver isn’t exactly a hotbed of sporting success either.

Yeah my friend, but I have seen the spotlight in 2011 so obviously there is a HUGE desire to get back to success here in Vancouver
