An intriguing offer for Letang, but...

    1) The retention of Letang requires more than you're offering and even without, you're a little bit off IMO.
    2) Definitely swap out the CAR pick for the MTL 1st round pick. Non-negotiable.
    3) Swap out Harris. He's basically a throw-in prospect. Either Mysak or Ylonen instead.

Letang is not going for a late round pick and a throw-in prospect which this deal basically is. Poehling is a nice piece, but he's probably looking like a bottom six forward.

All this to be said, Letang isn't getting moved.

You don't seriously gauge anything based on the pre-season, do you?

I do agree though, MTL has a major uphill battle in their division. They need to out perform the #4 seed in the Metro to have a chance.

Harris is the more valuable piece in this trade … and I couldn’t do MTL first because it’s already going to ARI. Depending on the condition, you will get the pick left. Harris is a really good LHD prospect, I didn’t throw him like that, he is more valuable than Poehling. Ok maybe not more valuable than a 1st, but he is a good prospect. And we are talking about a rental Letang, this is good value

every single team in that division has gone backwards.
TOR is worse than last year.
    BOS has 1 center.
    TB lost their depth.
    Even FL went backwards.
OTT is probably one of the better teams in that conference now. No one should sleep on them.
But MTL has the talent to make the playoffs this year. The rest of the division is that bad.

Harris is not the type of prospect the Pens need. They need better prospects at forward.
