Description

This is just for fun so relax. Brady will sign with the Sens before the season, being a pain in the ass at all times is a requisite for all Tkachuks.

But... if someone were to force the issue, this is an OS he would sign IMO. Rangers could pay a middleman to retain, Blues move on from VT and get their 2nd back for the OS compensation requirement. If Ottawa matches then it walks Brady into free agency - just gotta tell Armstrong to stop spending all the money on aging free agents and save some for Brady.

Forcing OTT to take him straight to UFA could be beneficial in the future. If Blues win the (imaginary) OS I think they'd have an easy time getting Brady to extend before he hits the open market.

I think they could resign him before UFA too, but not a bad strategy. Personally, if we could move on from one of the long contracts in Schenn, Krug, or Faulk I'd prefer that instead.

I actually kinda love this strategy. We either get him at a reasonable asset price (though a little high on the cap end) or OTT is forced to walk him to UFA and we send him an offer then.

It would be fun. The biggest risk is giving up on Tarasenko for so little (especially if the OS fails) but at the very least it would provide a pick / cap space for a 1-2 year top4 LHD rental and/or a nice, short Perron extension.
