Edmonton needs defensive D, not another offense-only guy.

Besides, Broberg will be up by 2022 and you haven't done anything to help the goaltending.

Sergachev isn’t an offence only guy. He’d be great on the oilers. Tampa declines tho there’s no way they do this

He gets sheltered a fair bit, playing mostly on the 3rd pairing in Tampa. If you look at his defensive rel numbers last year they aren't pretty - and that's playing against very few elite forwards in the Central Division.

I'm sure he's good enough to win his minutes on the 2nd pairing, but it's not going to be because of his defensive abilities. He'll need a strong defensive partner and Bouchard ain't it.

Edmonton is loaded at LHD, there's absolutely no reason to spend a bunch of assets and cap space on an offensive defenseman who depends on a lot on PP time to justify his price tag, when they've already got Barrie and Bouchard on the roster.

Sergachev offense-only guy? Maybe 2 years ago...

He's sheltered on the 3rd pairing, so his coaches aren't comfortable putting him out against the best of the opposition. That says something.

Yeah it's kinda hard not to be on the 3rd pairing when you have Hedman and McDonagh. Both are better defensive dmen but that doesn't mean Sergachev is "offense-only". He improved his defensive skills a lot over the last few years. Became much more physical and confident at his own end and is very valuable in all situations now.

He plays with the worse RD on the lightning as well. Sheltered is playing with good teammates and bad competition. It’s easy competition and less skilled teammates. He’s also left out in the last minutes of games when they’re up 1 or 2. Look at game 7 of the ecf or game 5 of the scf

Tampa would probably want Poolparty and one of Broberg or Bouchard and probably then some
