You could argue that Panik and Duchene are having about equal seasons. So why is Duchene worth so much in a trade?

You're comparing a guy on a contending team who plays alongside Towes, To a guy centering a top line on the last place team in the NHL who's team is struggling to put goals on the board. Duchene also has questionable wingers and is still producing. Duchene also is leading the NHL in FO%. On any team he'd be a 1-2 C and with proper line mates he would see his points total rise. Thats why he's worth so much.

The hawks offense is running so smoothly I can't see Stan trying to change that, hawks may get a rental D to play 12-15.

Chicago can't afford to have the duchenne contract going forward so this will never happen. Chicago will add a depth player who could play line 1 with Hossa and Toews if the young guys struggle in playoffs and a 5-6 d man who will either play minimal minutes if kempny or TVR struggle or be a healthy scratch in case of injury

I guess we'll find out soon (or maybe not) about Duchene's true trade value....it only takes one team. Is Duchene, Landeskog, really difference makers? And a CM10 and I'll paraphrase, few contending teams have cap space to take on Duchene next year, though in this trade the 50% retention sure is a great sweetener. I'll admit a change of scenery may be the best thing for Duchene and Landesdog. and it will show it their play. I wonder if we'll ever know.
