Canes don’t really need retention but I do think Nyquist could be a good target to improve the top 9. How about Puistola and a 2nd? Would prefer to keep Bokk and use picks instead.

Canes historically haven’t parted with high picks or prospects but they’re at the point of their trajectory where it now actually makes sense to so I wouldn’t say they aren’t willing to make a move if it makes sense and puts the team over the top. As a team goes through different stages of competitiveness their strategy should and will change to reflect that.

That Domi trade is bad.
Kerfoot is worthless, and he has gotten passed around on this CF site by Leafs fans more often than the COVID virus.
Domi's value has dropped a bit last year, but he did play much better the last quarter of the season, and with Torts gone and a new year coming, he will definitely be worth more than Kerfoot and moving up 64 places in the draft by the TDL.

I personally like Kerfoot and he was a stud in the playoffs.
Here is my trade proposal to you at the deadline:
Toronto receives:
Domi (50% retained) $2,650,000 x 1 UFA
Kukan (50% retained) $825,000 x 1 UFA

Columbus receives:
Dermott $1,500,000 x 2 RFA
Mikheyev $1,645,000 x 1 UFA

Kerfoot isn't worthless, it's pretty clear you haven't watched him play. He's been a part of a lot of deals on here as a means of creating cap space.

Bruh what?? Toronto doesn’t touch that Domi trade with a 10 foot pole. Giving up a second and kerfoot for domi?? Even Kerfoot straight up for domi leafs decline

I’m happy with this for CBJ. Except maybe the Nuitvaara trade. I get the impetus to trade for him, but he’s about to hit UFA, and this would be assumed to be at the TDL. I’d rather just wait and sign him in the off-season, if we so intend to get him.

I’ve been saying for awhile if we are rebuilding, we need to move Nyquist. I still think he is a very solid middle-6 winger, but he’s playing high in the lineup for us, and is taking up a spot that needs to go to a younger guy. That being said, I’d be hesitant to take on Kerfoot for the same reason - he’s taking up a roster spot a younger guy could use.

I would like to see the Nuti trade before the season. We have no one to fill in that 1RD spot that I would feel remotely okay with. I don't envision Jarmo wanting to sign nuti long term, so i look at this almost as a rental to buy us time to figure out kukan and peeke.
I am with you on the Domi move. I think its tough with the flat cap and the contenders that would be interested. We would have to take on some salary in return and kerfoot and the leafs have been the link for a while now. I hate to take away time from the young guys but some salary has to come back to us.
