Plus EJ is still a decent Dman when healthy, you cant say the same as Subban. EJ is a big cog to the Avs PK and was missed last year.

johnson contract is not a cancer, Avs fans arent actively trying to move it, EJ is a big part of the culture of that team and leader of that D Core.

Yes he isn't worth 9M, but he's still a solid defensemen

PK is not any better than Johnson, they are both average 2nd Pairing Dmen, their underlyings are very identical however PK plays a lot of PP time and doesnt really produce on it, EJ never plays the PP and yet their offensive output has been similar lately.

I wouldnt say PK is better than EJ, hes not worth his contract, neither does EJ, but Avs arent giving up a 2nd round pick to take on 1m in cap this year to basically at worst get the same Dman

my point about PKs game not holding up is the past 2 years his offensive numbers have taken a nose dive...when one of his biggest weapons in QB a PP and offensive size of puck moving ability is slipping....his game is slipping. EJ has been very constant minus his health, when healthy you get the same consistent 2nd pairing guy who eats a lot of minutes

Adding Sami is a mistake imo. Sieg and Bahl should be allowed to duke it out for 3LD
