This has been brought up a bunch of times but Meier's QO is 10 (!!!) million at contract expiry. Given his performance in recent years its highly unlikely that he'll be a worthy of such a cap hit, I'd say it's just as probable that he doesn't get qualified at all for and goes UFA in 2023. And throwing all those assets away for a player who you can rather easily find in following UFA classes, it would be lunacy.
Sundqvist is alright but Johnsson has much more upside and you can't have the Devils retaining that amount for two years without anything else coming back.
