Your likely going to have to pay SEA to take Cap. Its unlikely a new franchise will be giving away picks at this stage.

Negotiations for Rielly have already started. Pierre Lebrun reported earlier Rielly wants to stay in Toronto and is willing to take a pay-cut on a long term deal.

He will probs get a deal around 7.5mill for 8 years.

With the cap potentially going up to 82.5mill according to Serevalli that makes it easier for the leafs to give him that kind of money.

Now also mentioned if a deal is not finalized by the start of training camp he may be moved if the deal is right. But that comes with big risks as moving him could send the wrong message in the locker room or his replacement may not fit well with the team and that can cause problems during the season. Seattle has been linked so will need to monitor the situation on that front but dont look to much into it rn.

In general though the situation must be approached with care as one wrong move could spell trouble

No he never said hes taking less than his current deal. He said he is willing to take a pay cut on a long term deal to stay in Toronto. That probs is gonna mean hes taking a discount on his next deal and will sign for less than market value which is very high rn based on all the current signings. Now based on current contracts seen and from certain reports Rielly is most likely gonna make between 7-8mill with the leafs if they decide to keep him. 8mill is a bit high but considering Nurse is making 9.25 we can live with that as Rielly despite the production drop still plays over 20mins a night, can give you points, quarter back either power play unit and is one of the better offensive dman in the NHL. I know his productions dropped but lets be real he was never gonna drop 20 goals a season. If he puts up 50+ points a season and can stay healthy than the contract is fine.

Evolving hockey has his contract projection rn at 8.25mill x 8yrs and their predictions were pretty close for Jones, Werenski, Nurse, and Heiskenan.

3.75M for 17 points in 51 games and a QO of almost 5M.

You'd give up Dermott and a 2nd for that? Are you a Bruins fan?

I'd rather keep Kerfoot.
