I will never understand why people think this, or other middle sixers, is a fair Marner deal.

The difference between Rielly and Dermott is just a 4th?

Don’t think the ducks give up what is likely a high lottery pick for Marner in a pretty strong draft class. The post said if another 1st round loss which would mean Marner Kelly does nothing in the playoffs again.

Will the Reilly sign and trade work like the one that happened with Edm this year?

That’s not the point. The point is that 2022 pick has a very good chance of being Shane Wright, Max Comtois is a big player for us and could break out this season, and Terry was practically our best winger last year ( analytically was the best on the roster )

It’s not we hate Marner or that Marner isn’t good, it’s that the package the Ducks give up hold much more value for them than Marner does.

The difference is that the trade is for 1 year of Dermott vs. just signing rights to Rielly, which is an absurd return to get for signing rights as we saw with Hyman.

That’s a fair point then I guess. The general consensus on here is usually different then that, but that makes sense

Thanks, not sure how I missed that (too much wine tonight, I guess). That makes more sense now. It's too much instead of not enough now, but at least it makes sense in the context of the other over-valuation of Leafs players here.

I agree with @AntreDiAnaheim. This makes no sense for the Ducks. Giving up the only good goal scorer on the roster right now for another Passer wouldn't be too smart. The 2022 1st is probably a Top 5 pick and that, Comtois and Terry (who is very underrated and a really good player) is not worth giving up from the Ducks perspective.

I really like Marner and I think he's a great player but this isn't a trade the Ducks would do.

There is only 3 players in the league that Marner and a package would the leafs trade him for. If the leafs make a trade and send anyone out it's Nylander. Marner is way better at both ends of the ice and is their top pk guy as well. He is the leafs best all round player and his ice time proves it.
