Rossi I don’t think will be ready, but yeah I’m kinda lukewarm on the Rico trade myself. I stated in the desc that you could flex up Ek to 1C if the trade doesn’t interest you. Point is to maximize Fialas return.

I get what you’re saying but I think likely Fiala goes at the deadline. I’d bet he moves before he inks his deal to give the new team the ability to negotiate the contract they want.

Not NHL ready. Health wise, he seems to be doing great. He just hasn’t played any hockey in a very long time. I think it’s something like 4 games in the last 12-16 months or something crazy. I think he probably could play in a limited role, but it just makes more sense to give him a major role in Iowa (1st line, PP, etc) and let him get back into things. My optimistic take would be that he gets called up around Christmas, but I don’t see them rushing anything.

I think that’s more likely than him going to arb. A short term deal will cost Fiala between 1 and 4 mil since I believe there is a team that will give him 7 mil with term. That team is just not the Wild. I also think the Wild would rather fully cash in if they know they can’t get a long term deal done.

The ideal scenario for both sides is to do it before the hearing, an arb award just puts any team that trades for him into the same position the Wild are in. You’ve gotta let the team negotiate the contract they want.

Makes sense, I was kind of thinking some teams might be hesitant to trade for him since the contract is an unknown and they obviously would be aware of what he’s asking. But I could see it going either way.

Teams would def want control over contract negotiations, but on the flip side if it goes to arb and lands on something like 2/5.5 or so, MIN could probably get a respectable haul at TDL. Not that we’d even have to, but I’m thinking if we retained 50%, you’d have A LOT of contenders calling. A 60-70 pt top line winger for sub 3M. Surely that would be a 1st + good prospect, no?

I think you get less because that award walks him to UFA. Granted, that’s probably the return you get at the deadline. I think you get that plus if you deal him with no contract to a team that’s willing to pay.

Gotcha I see. That makes more sense. I was thinking it increased his value, because it the demand would presumably be greater. But I suppose the trump card that is term / UFA outweighs that.

Anaheim waived Henrique last year, so the wild could get him for free.

I’ve had Ducks fans get upset when I lowballed on earlier proposals, so I just mimicked an ACGM that didn’t get pushback. You’d have to throw a little for retention, but 3rd + Beckman seems heavy handed.

He was put on waivers and no team wanted him. He still has multiple years left, and is no longer that good. You are overvaluing him

You’re ignoring the retention. He would not have cleared waivers at a $4M cap hit. He’s still a solid player. If you read the earlier comments, you will see that I said a 3rd + Beckman is heavy handed and understand why I chose the package I did.

Beckman is ultimately a bottom 6 winger. You’re overvaluing our prospects.

If this was reversed you’d be slamming the person by saying “wild don’t want a third and some garbage prospect”.
