Wonder if they start Byfield on the wing. Could that be an option?

He's too good at center already, Vilardi on the wing makes more sense.

He's not perfect on the wing, but he's certainly not ready for center. Playing with Danault should help him.

What are some of his flaws keeping him from becoming a solid nhl player ?

The assumption is Byfield will be 3C eventually this season but likely start in the AHL unless he has taken another step in the off-season. Vilardi will likely start the season as a 3C, and split time with Danault as a winger. Vilardi has not looked great on the wing so far, but I think it may have been who he was centering more than how he played wing, with Danault I think he could transition to the position well. If you are wondering about where Turcotte fits, he has looked good so far on the wing with Byfield in the AHL. If Byfield looks too good to be an AHLer the Kings center depth should be: 1C:Kopitar, 2C: Danault, 3C: Byfield, 4C: JAD. And if he isn't just replace Byfield with Vilardi, I think the Danault signing was meant to not rush young players but simeltaneously make the teams ready to compete in a weak division.

I think this is the year he will break out,but his flaws are faceoffs, and inconsistent play. He's not great defensively, and I think he's a guy that needs the right linemates to succeed. But his offensive talent is undoubtedly great, if he figures it out he could be a 60-70 point guy.

I always thought Turcotte was gonna be a LWer anyways. What if they move Vilardi for a top LD?

I think Byfield-Turcotte could work as soon as tomorrow, and Danault covers up for Vilardi' flaws, so that he can be more loose on the ice.

After what Werenski got I'm not sure,Chychrun would be perfect but would cost much more than Vilardi.

I mean the plan was to get Werenski at some point, but that window looks closed now. This is probably the last peice the Kings need because Edler is a temporary bandaid to that issue. The question is what team is willing to move a top line LD who is under 25?

Agreed, however, the Danault signing illustrates that the Kings did not see Vilardi/Turcotte/Byfield as top-6 ready. The team just has too many players, so I think we are in for another year of tryouts to solidify the bottom line before those two come up. Every AHLer we bring up is another NHLer who has to clear waivers.

Yeah at this point doesn’t look like many are available . Broberg probably won’t be traded . I think the only guy you might be able to get is Brannstrom and he might only be available because Ottawa took Sanderson

Sure, You don't want to put them in the top 6 right away, but now the Kings can roll 4 lines and 3 pairings, now it's not a matter of fixing weaknesses, but rather grooming the strengths.

And increasing goal scoring somehow from within because I'm not sure Arvidsson can do it alone.

I'm quite sure he can tho, always been one of my favorite players, I expect Lias Andersson to have a great season too.
