Description
After the Stone deal, I'm not sure what the value on a rental winger like Eaves would be. The Stars get a young, high-IQ, center in Heinen, and a big winger who has looked better under a new coaching regime. You could also throw in a med value d prospect such as gryz or arnesson.

We give AZ a young, med-high potential goalie in Subban, and a tough d-man to fill the void left by Stone. Beleskey might be an overpayment, but I think he is unnecessary in Boston, and Duclair could find his potential in Boston.

To prepare for the expansion, any of the pending RAs on the bottom 6 could be signed to small extensions in order to have the numbers required for exposure. It could also benefit the Bruins to give Vegas a draft pick or two to take Smith (I only want him for a playoff run to keep Tuukka rested this year).

The Dallas trade makes a lot of sense for both sides.

The Arizona trade makes no sense for either side.

Mike Smith, even retained, just hurts the Bruins more than he helps. You can't be paying a backup 4+ million for 3 years when they have contracts coming up. I get you shed some dead weight in the process, but that's a contract that could hurt the team down the road, as well. Why would ARZ do that anyway? They aren't really getting anything of substance out of that deal, and give up a young asset in the process. I do like the Dallas deal though.

The ARZ deal with Smith was more just to have him for this year, and then try and have Vegas take him (I don't know what that would cost). Figure the Bs could fork up paying him this year in order to give Tuukka a game or two off a week and not risk losing it.

Ariz trade doesn't make sense for either team. While Khudobin has not been great he could easily be .500 if he had gotten some support. Too much has been made of the B's record in non Rask games. It doesn't rest solely on the goalie. Three times AK has given up 2 or fewer in reg and lost.

The other 2 are reasonable. Don't know if I would do the Dallas deal but it's not horrible.

Ok. I can see the point there. But if LV takes a better option come expansion draft, then you're stuck with him for his contract.

Everyone has already said this but... no go on Mike Smith, too much cap eaten up by goal tenders. I read your reasoning hoping Vegas would take him, but that's a big gamble potentially tying up cap space needed for new contracts. All other trades look intriguing.
