Description

LHD Defensemen are dropping from the market like crazy, and they’re all getting paid exorbitant salaries the Isles appear to be (wisely) avoiding (I… hope I didn’t just jinx that).

Might it make more sense to let Bolduc and Salo duel it out for a spot rather than sign a rip off contract for a 35+ guy? I kind of think so. With that money, we could lock down Beauvillier and Pelech long term and save some cap space for the TDL. Between the 2.5m in cap space here and the 3.5ish from Komarov and Hickey the Isles can clear at the TDL, that gives Lou plenty of room to pursue a high end scorer. Until then, Parise for depth and Salo/Bolduc makes good sense to me.

Back in 2014 we said the same thing about Griffin Reinhart, then right before the season we traded for Leddy and Boychuk. I think we need to add at least one defenseman, but wouldn't be shocked if we add two.

Playing greene on the 2nd pair is a recipe to not make the playoffs. Hes a 7th dman not a 4th. Also trotz would hate that 3rd pair, not good defensively at all.
