Description
Bruins fans, let me know what you think of the value here.

B's have been rumoured to have interest in Holtby for a while now, ostensibly to tandem with one of their young guys.

Swap 2 guys who could use a change of scenery (DeBrusk & Schmidt). Schmidt's a big upgrade on Clifton and shores up the Bruins' ransacked left side (Chara, Krug, Lauzon). We take back the cheaper, natural RD we need.

Canucks sweeten with salary retention on Holtby and a Massachusetts-born C/LW who's been ripping up the NCAA in McDonough, probably still a year away.

DeBrusk gives Canucks option to run 3 scoring lines, shedding Schmidt opens room to go after Savard to pair with Hughes. Reimer takes a discount to finish his career at home in BC.

Balance on all lines, pairs and in net.

Man, what is in the water in vancouver? It’s unbelievable that after 10,000 of the same trades, it still hasn’t sunk in that the bruins don’t want holtby or schmidt.

We are not taking your cap dumps

We have zero interest in either player BTW. A writer speculating is not interest. It’s garbage

Add a 1st and take Moore, we might think about it.

If the league feels like Schmidt is a cap dump I really hope the Canucks don't move him.

6m for 4 years of a guy who has declined 2 straight years in a flat cap. Good luck.

It's not "a writer", it's Elliotte Friedman. And interest from 5+ other teams has been reported by 3-4 other reputable sources lol
You obviously misunderstand Schmidt if you think he's a cap dump. He's a legit top pairing dman who crushed the toughest deployment in the NHL his last year in Vegas. Didn't fit in a **** defensive system here, unlike what you have under Cassidy. He'd be a top pairing guy for you.

Ah yes the dreaded left side of Grzelcyk, Vaakanainen, Zboril. Where would a cost controlled top pairing left shot dman possibly fit there?

Cost controlled? Ya, the cost is controlled somewhere between bad and disastrous. Teams don’t trade assets to take on scary contracts in a flat cap…well, other than vancouver it seems.

$6m for a top pairing dman is below market value, and a 14 point 3rd liner who's been working his way down the lineup for a year and a half, and a 3rd pairing dman aren't the premium assets you think they are.

He hasn’t played like a top pair lately. That sometimes happens with players as they age, and it’s the reason the contract is scary. This trade is very bad.

It was an article in The Hockey Writers where it was suggested that a Debrusk for Schmidt trade made sense for both teams. Others jumped on it. It doesn’t.

But I was referring to the article Fluto wrote about the goalie situation in Boston and Holtby.

Schmidt was not good his last year in Vegas, his defense slid and got worse again last year. He was merely average defensively to begin with. He’s far better on his offside. Night and day better and we don’t need him there. Cap hit and tern is undesirable for us as well. 🤷🏻‍♂️ He makes little sense for Boston.

Holtby is a cap dump
