I would not trade Debrusk for Bear straight up if we needed RD. And we don’t.

Brandon Carlo's contract is going to look really bad in a couple of years so it's better to take advantage of an awful GM in Holland and get a very good, cheap, young RD. Debrusk desperately needs a change of scenery and EDM has interest in him. I think this is a decent trade for both teams. Maybe instead of giving up a 2nd it could be a 3rd

You must watch a lot of Oilers games. LoL. Annndddd no he's not. He'll be surpassed by Bouchard this next year I'll say. Nurse took the necessary step forward this year

Why? You think Carlo is going to have chronic injuries? His contract runs out when he’s 30 in his prime, not 38.

Debrusk probably does need a change of scenery. If we are giving that to him I’d prefer it was something that is a need. We have enough of them. RD is not it.

100% Bouchard should step forward next season. Nurse had a great year offensively but was still bad defensively. And most of his offense came as a result of unsustainable shooting percentage. Bear is a very good 2 way defender who still has a lot of potential to improve. If they move him, which has been rumored, the team is even more ****ed

Defensive defenseman always seem to be albatross contracts and the concussions further scare me with him. If he wasn't a complete black hole offensively I would have no problems with his contract.

If you move bear..that means you're keeping Barrie. Barrie is far superior than bear. Oilers and Barrie are in agreeance on money. Just term is the hard point. Which is great for Oilers. They wanna give 3 years. He wants 4. So it's better than 5/6. LoL!! But bear is okay. He didn't show up this season in good shape. Took half a season for him to finally get into the form he was the previous season. I am a bear fan. Love seeing a fellow native make it. But we need a different defender on the right side. Can't have 3 puck movers. But I'd do 1 for 1 in this trade. That's all I am saying.

Barrie is definitely not better than Bear. Barrie had the most sheltered minutes out of any defenseman in the league and was glued to mcdrai and nurse so he racked up a ton of secondary assists. He's lost in his own zone and shoots weak muffins from the point instead of making plays. Ken Holland has completely wasted McDavid and Draisatl's primes in a single off-season with the Keith trade, losing Larsson, and resigning Barrie. If he loses Bear on top of that, Edmonton might get another lottery pick this year.

Lol what? That contract is fantastic. This trade is taking from a position of need, to add to a position of strength. Bad idea.

I'm not attacking. But I'm asking a question. Bear had 71 games to play with mcdavid and dr.drai but never accumulated the points half the points did Barrie did in 56 games. Secondary assists still count and if they're easy to get. Bear should have more . He's still got room to grow. But it's going to take awhile
