Why does everybody who is an Oiler fan think Mrazek will sign in Edmonton, he and Holland had a couple run-ins in Detroit so I highly doubt he's going to Edmonton. Also, why Hamilton for more $$ and more term than Barrie, Barrie is better offensively, progressed defensively and would be cheaper and less term... Lastly they are in need of a 3rd L C, or a good 4th L C who can play up should they plan to give McLeod the reigns to start, don't think they're willing to sign Khaira for that much to be a 4th line winger, OR Kahun to get that much of a raise as well- maybe qualify Kahun and get him for $925ish, and use what you're giving Khaira and the difference of Kahun's deal to bring in a better 4th L C, maybe Stalock's money too...

That's what they're working on, sadly he's going to be an Oiler for 3/4 years too long and $1.125->$1.5m too much, wish Toronto would've signed him before it came to this...

Dougie isn’t signing for that contract, looking for more term and if it’s EDM probably more AAV too.

You did not just say you wanted barrie over hamilton...

Hamilton was a top 5 defenceman last year. Meanwhile Barrie was atrocious defensively, but will get overpaid because he got tons of secondary assists on the pp handing the puck to mcdavid and drai.

you cannot compare Barrie with Dougie Hamilton... the difference defensively is not even close... further this is a bigger need now with Larsson gone. Barrie just blocks Bouchard.

I understand the thought process of blocking Bouchard, but Hamilton does the same thing, and all I am saying is Barrie is going to be $3m+ cheaper and would take a lot less term than Hamilton.. With Larsson gone that opens up the perfect spot for Bear, he can play 2nd pairing with Keith and PK, it would be the best fit for him, yes, won't be as physical and the Oilers still need that, but Hamilton wouldn't be that guy either. Nurse and Barrie played really well 5 on 5 last year, can keep them together still have Barrie on the first unit PK and slot both Nurse and Bouchard on the 2nd unit, every now and then when the pp get stale flip the 2. Then you can have Russell/Lagesson in the bottom pairing with Bouchard, and play PK with Nurse and keep Keith and Bear together for the other PK... The money used to save from Hamilton to Barrie could be placed elsewhere via trade and or another F in the middle 6, or better yet a much better goalie than Mike Smith OR Mikko Koskinen...

The Oilers are better off running Nurse-Bear than Nurse-Barrie: NST comp
