The Isles was thinking that Bailey, and Eberle are still good, so Seattle will probably take him, so they can shed cap. With Komarov, and Clutterbuck only having one year left, at a cheeper contract, they should be able to dump them. Seattle is going to get a good player from this team, but I think it was all planned. Now for Benson. He’s ok, but he’s not having the best time right now. He has the ability to play in the NHL, but he’s very slow. For us, he would only be a fourth liner because of his speed. I’m hoping he can fix that and make some team else’s roster, but that’s who I would take if I was Seattle too. Cheep prospect that may be able to turn out. petterson contract not great but ok he is a good dmen... tanev brings so much more... he wasn't that bad he had a bad injury and was tough coming back... de smith great backup and ceci coming off one of his best year in his career

Ceci, after a bunch of bad years. Seattle's goalies are set. 3 Great goalie options out there. DeSmith is very low value. Petterson is a ok Dman, Tanev is great but those contracts are too high.

BUT - what is the return if you trade Eberle or Bailey? What is the return if you trade Komerov or Clutterbuck? The first two arguably have higher trade value. Neither is on a bad contract, and both will be 33 or 34 at the end which is perfect, right at or before the quicker decline. I'd take Eberle simply because goals matter.

Ceci is bad. He was bad on Ottawa, he was terrible on Toronto. He is a good 6th D option, kind of like Luke Schenn. Those guys are cheap and easy to get. Petterson is decent but contract is a risk. Also Seattle has so many great D options I don't think picking him is a good idea. Tanev is a coveted player but not at 3.5 with term. Take the cheaper Aston-Reese that has been consistent the last few seasons and is still young, and can provide good secondary scoring. IF you are going to take on money, save it for important players.

I’m not confident that the reruns would be as high as you think. It’s easier for them to take the easy route, and leave them exposed. 5+M for them isn’t the best, and teams will pick up that they need to dump them, so they would’ve had to sell low on them anyway. The return for the two cap dumps would be a seventh round pick, but you would have to add. I see what you are saying, but it’s not that easy to dump cap to sign others. I mean, look at Vegas when they traded Nate Schmidt. They only got a third for him, because they wanted to sign someone else.
