Question is, would they trade within the division? Also I have seen this year so far Hayes isn't great when he plays 2nd line and Zibby has struggled a little bit since his return. Do they make another trade to replace Step aka get a 3rd C and keep Miller on the wing? I do love Miller and Hayes together, but I also love Miller and Grabner together.

I honestly don't know if it is too much, it is close. Step is in top 10C pts wise past few years. Maybe a mid Forward prospect as well from Carolina as well, or a young Forward on the roster?
Faulk is 24 and an offensive dman signed 3 more years for 4.8m... pretty cheap for what he is if you ask me and wouldn't force a trade giving up way too much for a possible Shattenkirk rental and can sign him over summer and buy DG out or something and have a very good top 4 D as well as solid offense. If the D scores more (Faulk, Shatty added) the top 6 being not so great doesn't hurt as bad.

Honestly the fairness of this trade is scary. It works for both teams perfectly, but I feel like chemistry might not work for both teams and we will be missing a core piece in the offense of NYR and defense for Carolina.

Fair if Carolina really wants a centre badly and can afford to lose their best dman.

Answer is no. value wise? Sure. If I'm Carolina and i see the price of guys like Larsson and Brodin and whoever else and what it took to get them? I'd ask for way more then Stepan. Also got to look at salaries here. Klein plus Stepan equal nearly double what Faulk makes.

Carolina is not a splurging team right now. They are hemorrhaging money and the owner is looking to offload the team or at least majority of it. Unstable times for Carolina right now.
