Bean over Niederreiter shows you that this title is very wrong. Bean was awful in the playoffs where Nino is coming off a 37 goal pace season

versatile player, can play pk and pp and produces in the playoffs. Also would be weird if Toronto traded for McCann just to lose him to Seattle

Good post

Is it based on any advanced stats model? or just common sense?

few points :

Tarasenko to PHI was reported as a possibility but for Voracek not JVR https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/deal-on-the-table-for-the-kraken-to-take-tarasenko-flip-him-to-phi.2834396/
Byron has negative value even if he's a valuable player (on waivers last year mutiple times). It wouldnt be good asset management. I'd say SEA goes for Fleury (or Kulak, but plenty of 6-7th D already). With him off the books, you can prefer Nino to Bean (both are fine choices tho)

yea your right i had trouble picking anyone for montreal. Byron seemed like the best player available but cap hit is pretty high

Add another 2m to Landy, he’s not signing for less than 9m on the open market, his demands are apparently real and 9-10m aav is what he wants

1) Then re-work the cap, Nino is straight up better than bean.

2) Bean being a pylon defensively and a blackhole offensively for 4 years is better than a 37 goal pace Nino Niederreiter? Are you sure about that?

nino's been pretty hot and cold his whole career. id rather take my chances with bean and use the cap elsewhere.

Bean who was absolutely garbage in his NHL career? You'd rather take a (so far) replacement level defensman over someone who's always been one of the best two-way forwards in the game and has 60+ point upside? This has to be a joke right?

nope. nino's too inconsistent. wouldn't touch him. i'd rather spend that $5m elsewhere. i'd go geekie if it were me.

Geekie is different, but Nino has never not been elite defensively... his offensive upside varies, sure... but his play really doesn't. That's a rather lazy assessment based on points alone...

No, because underlying numbers and the eye test are the same year after year with Nino. He's a very good play driving forward at both ends of the ice. It's a lazy opinion based on his scoring alone.
