  1. McCann, Jared
Détails additionnels:
Instead of losing McCann for nothing, PIT gets rights to a guy that they are interested in and a 3rd round pick.

IMO they should protect him but since reports are coming out that they are not, PIT should make a move similar to the Graves deal so that they don't lose him for free.
PIT
  1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2023 (TOR)
Détails additionnels:
PIT receives the exclusive UFA negotiating rights to Zach Hyman
2.
TOR
SEA
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
Détails additionnels:
TOR leaves Kerfoot unprotected as he is just a cap dump, and is a way to entice SEA even more to stay away from Dermott since apparently SEA like Kerfoot as a player.

I love a good TOR ACGM that deals their bottom 6 assets for what they’re really worth. Good work here, everything looks pretty realistic.

Mikheyev for McDavid. Trade is 1 for 1.

Fitzy loves Graeme Clarke.
Has a good shot at making team out of camp next year.

We’d probably be interested in Holl if he doesn’t cost us much.

I don't get this McCann deal from a Toronto perspective. Sure he's at risk of being exposed to Seattle and has had inconsistent play to make his value not the highest, might be closer to a 3rd and a prospect, but the rest of this just doesn't make sense.

1. You trade Hyman's rights - well what if Pittsburgh signs him (which would be their intention) - & you've now just traded a 3rd and Hyman for McCann. Which is a terrible deal for Toronto.

2. If you trade for McCann before the expansion draft then you need to protect him - and if you don't (I assume you've still protected the core 4 plus Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, and Holl by the looks of it - should be Dermott but that's whatever), so why wouldn't Seattle just take McCann who's younger and has more team control? Then Toronto just traded a pick and Hyman for literally nothing.

This just makes no sense as it is. Good idea going after McCann, just bad execution here.

Kerfoot is not a cap dump. No logic in saying Pittsburg will lose McCann for nothing. So they trade him away and Seattle selects another player,,,now Pens are down two NHLers. Not really wise to trade the dependable Holl when there is no replacement.

I should have clarified, that is my bad. Here TOR actually goes 7-3-1 but still exposing Kerfoot to SEA. Hyman is gone from the Leafs 100% so it doesn't really matter where he goes, we're just shipping him off for SOME value.

Maybe the pick is a bit much but I didn't want to be called a Leaf homer so I sent them a pick as well. The general point of this trade though is to upgrade at 3C (McCann in, Kerfoot out) as well as getting SOME value for Hyman instead of just losing him to FA. And from a PIT standpoint, they get exclusive negotiating rights to a player they are interested in (who can also just walk) AND a draft pick.

Both teams get value for players they were going to lose for free.

It could be anyone tbh, I also love Clarke's game so I went with him lol.

Devils do give me the vibe that they might be going for a playoff push, this trade could actually make a lot of sense for them as they get two DECENT roster players on cheap deals. Abramov also doesn't seem to be very far from making the NHL.

You're right...And the Leafs made a horrible trade. They expose Kerfoot and McCann....lose one, and always lose the near NHL ready Hollander in the trade.
