Quoting: DirtyDangle
2 middle six forwards and 2 top four defenseman for a 2nd, two 3rds and a 12th/13th forward is a pretty good deal.
1. Tampa will take that trade and run. They’re cap strapped, everybody knows this, why give them assets when you can squeeze them into taking less.
2. I will shoot myself in the head the day JT Compher is in this team’s top 6. Dude is a bottom 6 forward making the same as Paul Byron why don’t you just keep Byron.
3. Erik Johnson is making way too much money and didn’t play a single game last year. On top of that, Colorado got him to waive his NMC because he’s not worth protecting to them. Why would you give up a promising prospect in Poehling who will be a good middle six winger for two overpaid players they’re trying to get rid of.
4. I don’t really see the point to getting Nick leddy. If you want an old puck moving left d, go out and pay martinez; he can do all the same things leddy does but actually can play some defence and will probably make less money.
All in all, I get what you’re trying to do here, but there are just so many better ways to allocate money than taking on these terrible contracts for old, overpaid, injury-prone guys. Why not use the money to go out and sign someone? Why not go trade for a big star? There’s just better ways to allocate money than this, because frankly this team is probably worse than the one we iced last year.
