In all sincerity...If you go back and look at 3rd round picks between 5 and 15 years ago (allowing prospects 5 years to develop...more than enough time) the stats are that 3rd round picks play 100+ games in the NHL approx 18% of the time. That doesn't even mean they need to play those 100 games well. It's just being on the ice. That's a pretty easy thing to give up. 4th is obviously less. Caleb Jones isn't that good of a prospect. I know I'm bias. I think Keith is a good hockey player...and STILL is...I think EDM wins this by a wide margin. The only reason The Hawks would even think about this is because Keith wanted to be closer to his son.

It might work out well for Edmonton. I like most fans would have liked to see some retention however Keith is better in the short term than jones so it is an upgrade plus additional experience is important as well. It’s not a trade should be jumping full of joy over but it might not be nearly as bad as it looks.
