Canucks Build Up For A 2023 Cup Run

Créé par: arman2002k

Description
The Canucks have a lot of bad contracts, fortunately most of them expire this year and next year. Another very fortunate element is the Canucks have many up and coming rookies and prospects. Thus, if the Canucks can convince their stars to sign mid term team friendly contracts, and also find a way to move some players. they can sign Hyman this year at free agency, and than they can realistically build a team capable of actually winning the cup in the 2022/2023 season.

In 22/23, Gadjovich and/or Mackewan will probably not make the main roster, depending on who has the most mediocre performance this upcoming season. Kent Johnson would centre the 3rd line with Hoglander and Pearson on the wing, and the 4th line will be big too.
With tons of Cap space opening up, Canucks will also have lots of money to sign ufa’s for 22/23, a top 6 forward, extra depth on the blueline, and some taxi squad additions would then be their focus in order to build finishing touches for a cup contending team.

The Roster For 2022/2023 Could Look Something Like This

Forsberg-Pettersson-Podkolzin
Miller-Horvat-Hyman
Hoglander-Johnson-Pearson
Motte-Graovac-Hartman

Hughes-Sergachev
Cole-Chiarot
Rathbone-Myers

Demko
Dipietro

The 22/23 team could look even stronger than this if they decide to give away some of their draft picks, especially if players like Rathbone and Dipietro can reach their known potential.
There’s significant potential to build this team into a force to be reckoned with in the next few years. Lets just hope management plays their cards right!

VAN gave up a third for Schmidt. He arguably has less value now. Rangers decline.

Virtanen has no value at all, you would have to pay someone to take him not the other way around

No skin the game (teams wise) but I don't think people understand the value of Sergachev. There's no way TB needs Holtby. If TB traded Sergachev, they'd get a haul and a half.

First off, virtanen probably getting bought out. You’re getting NOTHING for him. Boeser is a core piece in Vancouver and our best player this season. Why would we trade him for Hartman and draft picks if we are going for a cup run? I also wouldn’t be too hasty to hand out another 6 million dollar contract especially to Hyman. Lastly, Holtby is worth negative value. I don’t understand why a cap strapped team like Tampa would want a terrible expensive goalie. I’m sorry but this was not thought through very much.

Virtanen has negative value right now. Why would any team trade for him with an active investigation underway? What message does that send to female fans of the team acquiring him? He is a toxic asset right now.

No disrespect but none of this isn't happening in terms

Ryan Hartman was just signed to a very friendly 3 years team extension, & beloved by wild gm, & coaches. He's not available to be traded

Also, wild doesn't have the cap to take on boeser

I totally disagree that Tamp doesn’t need Holtby. Vasilevsky alone is not going to get them through a full season, and in-fact Tampa is gonna go through a rebuild faze whether they want to or not, a team thats 9 million over the cap is a team that’s in a desperate hole, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tampa has to give up more than Sergachev, given how Canucks are retaining literary half of his one year salary, and are offering two draft picks on top of that!

The cold hard truth is if Minnesota doesn’t add a player like Boesor. Kaprizov will go back to Russia.

Why keep a player that doesn’t want to play here. We already know that Boesor wants to play for Minnesota, and even if Canucks keep him and re-sign him in 2022. Boesor will one day play for Minnesota its only a matter of whether he signs as a UFA 4 years from now or whether he gets traded for high end draft picks and players.

Where the hell did you hear this lol. Kaprizov ain’t goin back to Russia. By the way we would love Boeser, especially for this travesty of a trade you proposed. If the Wild were to acquire Boeser for a third liner and some picks, Bill Guerin would win gm of the year and your gm would be fired on the spot. Its a good thing you’re not running an NHL team.

To be fair to Virtanen. Its nothing more than an allegation at this point of time, so u can’t say that about him just yet. We can only wait and see what happens with him and the accuser in court.

Nonetheless, I don’t see him as a Canuck in the future. Maybe he plays some games this upcoming season, but I think it’s inevitable at this point that he will not be part of the Stanley Cup buildup. Even if he can figure everything out in court.

See it from Canucks perspective, the trade gives them a 1st round pick, a 6th round pick, a key depth player, and most importantly the financial ability to go on and sign Zach Hyman in free agency. You mean to tell me that Boesor is worth significantly more than Hyman, Hartman, and a 1st round pick?
The value is nearly equal if not higher for Vancouver. Part of being a GM is thinking outside the box like I did, not being close minded like you.

That’s cool and all, until he wants to sign elsewhere and you realize you just sent one of the best wingers in the league to a rival of yours for a depth piece and 2 picks. Even if Hyman did sign with you, he has nothing to do with the Wild, we could care less about Hyman if all we had to give up is Hartman and 2 picks.

Also, the fact you think I’m being close minded is beyond funny. If you were a gm you’re claiming that trading your best winger just to open up cap space to sign a worse winger is an “out of the box idea” The idea is god awful. If you really wanted to sign Hyman, there are far wiser ways of opening up cap space outside of trading a 1st line near point per game winger. Don’t claim you’re prudent with this so called out of the box thinking. It’s just ignorant.

I agree with you. It is only an allegation at this point. That said, people are quick to jump to conclusions and I can't see him being involved in any trade until the matter is cleared. Perception plays such a role these days and opinions, some of them uninformed, fly about quickly on social media.

Minnesota is winning this trade but so is Vancouver because it lets them sign Zach Hyman. For the record, Vancouver Canucks would never agree to this trade unless they knew for sure that they were bringing in Zach Hyman. Obviously the trade itself benefits Minnesota, but it benefits Vancouver even more if they’re bringing in Hyman. Getting a key depth player and a first round pick on top of that.
I think both sides benefit from it. That is the nature of trades, they are suppose to be a win win situation for both sides.

While Boesor is currently Vancouvers top winger, we already know that Boesor has no interest playing in Vancouver long term, why keep a player that you will inevitably lose in 5 years for absolutely nothing? Why not trade him for draft picks and bring in some key players to build a stronger team.

Don’t forget that there’s 30 more teams willing to offer more for Sergy. Dallas would be ecstatic to retain half of Dobby and the 14 OV for Sergy.

That's false information. Boeser and Pettersson are best friends. Also Minnesota had a chance to draft him but they passed on him, Boeser must be thrilled by that. He is a core piece in VAN and he is not going anywhere.
