Description
I saw an interesting trade on a different AGM team and I wanted to explore it more. Drouin I believe needs to get out of the francophone situation and the pressure that comes along with it in Montreal. Where there is pressure to bring in players that are francophones (speak both french and english for those who don't know). Coming to a place like Winnipeg where you would have a french speaking player with PLD and not be in the spotlight because of guys like Ehlers, Schiefele, Wheeler, Connor. I think it would be a great fit for him. But what is the cost? Drouin is still a heck of a player and the price would be high if not for his situation. Now I'm not saying he is only worth a 7th round pick but his price might come down quite a bit. I am interested to see what people think of my offer. Hab fans I'm interested to hear your thoughts as well. Also Good Luck tonight against Tampa. I will be cheering for the Habs!!

Why is Winnipeg protecting Drouin and Copp?

I think a deal could be done if you went Copp + 1 of Chisholm or Beaur + 3rd but there are rumors going around that Drouin may be done with hockey all together. So not sure what to make of the situation.

The Seattle and Montreal trades are bad for the Jets. I'd rather the Jets keep Stanley, so if it costs that much to keep Appleton, you let Seattle take him.

Copp on his own is more valuable than Drouin, so the Jets definitely shouldn't be adding their best goalie prospect and a 2nd. Winnipeg should have no interest in Drouin, he's not good enough for the top 6 and can't play bottom 6. The Jets are far better off giving Ves a shot.

Firstly, your protection list is confusing. You are protecting BOTH Copp and Drouin, whom you are trading for each other. . . . Wut??? At first I just assumed that you meant to put Appleton's name there (since you feel Wheeler would be ok to waive his NMC and be left exposed), but then I noticed that you have the Jets parting with assets to PROTECT Appleton, and instead select one of either Harkins or Stanley, which isn't clear?? Huh??????

Secondly, Copp alone should be valued higher than Drouin at this point. That is a horrible deal for the Jets. And while the francophone thing won't be a big deal in Winnipeg, if Drouin needs a "pressure-free" environment, Winnipeg is not the place for him! Probably no Canadian market is!! Funny . . . he kind of "poo-pooed" his way out of a perfect pressure-less environment to start his career. Wonder if he wishes he could turn back time, seeing the team who drafted him en route to a second Stanley Cup.

No??? OMG, good luck getting a better return than that for Drouin elsewhere, then!! If Chevy traded those assets for Drouin, alone, he should tender his resignation simultaneously!

If Drouin does keep playing I think the Jets should look at him and have some interest. Another highly skilled left hand shot LW when he has the right fit. The price to get him would be way less than it normally would. So why not now? Especially if you can have Montreal retain some salary. Also Ehlers and Drouin played together in Halifax and ripped up that league. Both scoring over 100 points. Maybe all that comes back. I'm willing to take that chance.

That's cool. I wouldn't touch him with a 100 foot pole. He's lazy, entitled, overpaid and not worth upsetting the locker room over. As I said with Scheifele, Wheeler, Connor, Ehlers, Dubois, Perfetti and Vesalainen all capable and all better than Drouin, he's not good enough to play in the top 6. Add to that, Drouin is terrible defensively and can't play bottom 6. So, he's just a waste of a contract slot.

It's too bad, I liked Drouin in junior, but this is all on him, so he has no one to blame but himself.

You obviously haven't seen Drouin play the last 2 years. He has turned the corner defensively often rushing back to help break up plays in the D zone. He has also been quite physical (for Drouin lol). When he was playing the last 2 season he wasn't lazy or entitled, and as for upsetting the locker room there has never been any reports of locker room issues with Drouin even when he was in Tampa. I am not saying the Jets should take a flyer on him just that he is not the same player that we got from Tampa. I hope he comes back and suits up for anyone (I would love to see him back on the Habs) but unfortunately I just think he is done with hockey at this point.

Yeah that's cool. I meant lazy in the way that you see him for 4 or 5 games and then he's invisible for the next 10 or 20. It's just a lack of effort (lazy). He certainly acted entitled in Tampa, he's just not worth giving up good assets for at this point, to take the chance that he's going to act like a pro finally. It's not like he provides something that Winnipeg doesn't have.

Has there been any more news on him? It's too bad, I used to really like him.

Not really Ducharme before game 3 vs Tampa said Drouin is getting the help he needs whatever that means is left open for interpretation lol
