Description
Day Two of the off-season, although I haven't shown a selection by Seattle (probably Caleb Jones).

Plenty of time and cap space (roughly $7.3 million) to upgrade the bottom 6, including whether to bring Dylan Holloway up.

Between Ullmark, Vanecek, Cossa and Konovalov, Edmonton's goalie situation should be set for the immediate and intermediate future.

Yes, there have been several threads with Washington adherents discussing his trade value, and the generally accepted price for him is a second and a good prospect. I was a little generous here in order to present an appealing deal for the Capitals. But I should have checked the expansion-draft eligibility for these two prospects.

Barrie might be willing to take less to resign in Edmonton but he’s not signing for that cheap, going to need to add at least a mil
Coleman has stated he wants to stay in the US he’s a American he’s not signing in Canada
Like the pick drafting Cossa

That makes sense about Coleman. I've seen several posts featuring him being signed by Edmonton or Toronto and it just crept into my consciousness.

I’m not big on trading Samorukov, he’s as little as a yr away from being the perfect 3rd pair, big moves the puck well and has offensive up side and he plays a heavy physical game

I know every oilers AGM has him signed in Edmonton, he’ll get plenty of offers from US based teams, I could see someone vastly over paying for him.

This Caps fan thinks WSH has enough LHD anyway, and is open to suggestions on fair value for a 25 year old starting goalie who was slightly above average in GAA and SPCT and finished top ten in minutes and wins. Yes, WSH could lose a goalie in the expansion draft, but then Seattle misses out on Schultz, Jensen, Dillon, or Oshie. Meanwhile, Seattle gets picks to settle for Holtby and Allen who have been to the Finals, and still might have a third goalie spot for Hill or a UFA, all without giving up much at other positions. So WSH probably isn't losing a goalie to expansion.

If Ullmark is a UFA, take Ullmark, but assuming he signs back in Buffalo, what's fair for Vanecek? How do you outbid, say, Liljegren and a 3rd, or Buffalo's 2nd?

I’d say Ullmark is the best option, the sabres pressed hard to resign him already, if you where a UFA would you resign in Buffalo, I know I’m not the situation in Buffalo is yrs away from getting better, I’m going to a team that at least is a playoff team

If the Eichel and Reinhart situations drag on indefinitely, and it looks like those two will phone it in in front of an average defense, then yeah, Ullmark should want out.

On the other hand, if Buffalo gives up on the idea that an Eichel trade means they're in full rebuild mode and they won't take back any salary, then they can quickly add Seth Jones to their blue line this summer, plus a few decent forwards. That along with whatever they get for Reinhart could make them a pretty good team.

I don’t see them in on Jones as he’d only be there for the one yr, he has a very small list of teams he’d be willing to sign a extension with and Buffalo definitely not on that list, he wants to go to market so he can dictate where he signs

Buffalo is more then a few pieces away from be a playoff team, I don’t see any of the bigger UFA’s signing there, those type of guys want to go somewhere where they have a shot a winning a cup in the next 5 yrs.
In my opinion Buffalo should do what the Sen’s did completely commit to a full rebuild and move out all the big ticket guys and stock pile young prospects and first and second rd picks, you look at the Sen’s are their a couple yrs from being scary good.
