I wasn’t particularly saying he’s the guy their looking for, but more of a place Pittsburgh could use to dump bad contracts

Detroit appears to be a place where many fans think they can dump players.

What none of you seem to take into account is what Detroit thinks about the player being dumped or what needs and wants Detroit have.

That's why we see dozens of offers for overpaid RD when we already have 4 good ones.
That's why we see dozens of offers for overpaid wingers when we already have 9 waiver eligible ones + Raymond and Berggren.
That's why we see dozens of offers for overpaid goalies when we already have two good goalies.
That's why we see dozens of offers for overpaid LD when there are loads of better ones in FA and we only need LD for one or two years because we have 6 very good prospects.

It's getting tiresome.

I could’ve also used Anaheim, or Columbus, I picked the team out of a hat.

Why would the Pens add in order for Seattle to take Zucker??

how many Legit top 6, 20 plus goal scorers are gonna be left unprotected??

And Zucker would be a huge asset for them.

If Seattle wants to trade him at the deadline, and retain 1M-2M for 2 more seasons and trade Zucker to a contender at 3.5M-4.5Mper, they would get a good return.

And Zucker is only 29 years old. Only signed 2 more seasons after this upcoming season. And Seattle has to hit a cap floor. They have to take on some contracts.

No way Pens have to add to whoever Seattle takes. And most likely it’s gonna be Zucker. A legit top 6, and Seattle’s biggest asset they could get off the Pens.

And no reason at all for Pens to trade Ruhwedel. He makes league min. and is good NHL depth, 7th/8th D-man for them. Injuries happen and he comes in and plays 2nd-3rd pairing RHD and they don’t lose much. He’s solid.

He’s more valuable to the Pens than on the trade market.

And Pens keep Pettersson if u want them to add a 2nd round pick to trade him.

Pettersson/Marino line has been super solid. Marino’s numbers are always better paired with Pettersson. They go down when he was paired with Matheson some this season.

Pettersson isn’t flashy, but a good defensive D-man, long stick, long reach, never a minus(-) in his career. Plus(+)39 for his career. Makes very few mistakes and contributes offensively enough.

The same people on here saying Pettersson isn’t valuable are the same people clambering for their teams to pick up A.DeAngello, or V.Mete, or S.Gostisbhere. When literally no GM in the NHL would even touch them.

When Pettersson is still just 25 years, with play-off experience, contributes on a winning, contending team, makes very few mistakes. Again not flashy, but contributes offensively enough. Literally what NHL GMs look for and value in a D-man.

And you keep Jarry.

Pens organization wants to trade for or sign a vet back-up-1B goalie. Not trade Jarry. Jarry was still a division winning goalie. Was 25-9 and an Allstar the year b4. Still just 26 years old on a good reasonable contract.

Keep Pettersson.

Trade DeSmith, a proven NHL backup on a cheap contract. To Toronto or Edmonton. Or Colorado. A lot of teams could use DeSmith.

Pick-up a vet FA goalie like Bernier, or Mike Smith, or J.Reimer or P.Mrazek for 1.5M-2.5M for 1 season to pair with Jarry.

Add a 3rd pairing RHD like Luke Schenn for 1 year at 1.2M, just like Ceci last season. Let Ceci walk, he’ll be too expensive. He’s not worth it.

Blueger signs for 2M-2.25M for 2-3 seasons. ZAR signs for 1.25M-1.75M for 2 seasons. You have both of them signing at the highest end of their ranges.

Pens resign Gaudreau for around 1M per for 2 seasons.

They let E-Rod walk. 1.15M is too much for him anyways. He will get league min. again. But not with the Pens. They move on from him.

Seattle takes Zucker in the expansion draft.

And they have enough cap room to sign 1 or 2 RFA’s like C.Perry for 1.25M to be the 3rd line RW. Or Simmons at 2M for 1 season to be the 3rd line RW.

Or Bobby Ryan for 1-2 seasons at 1.5M-2M.

Pens need a tweak or two, not a complete roster rebuild.

I only traded Jarry because I’d be over the cap if I traded Desmith

I'm not a fan of M. Pettersson but for a 2nd rd pick I could live with it. But there is no way Burke gives up a 2nd to move Pettersson.

The Penguins should not be trading any high round draft picks for a while. They need to replenish the system.

If the Penguins are seeking a veteran 1B goaltender, bring Fleury home with Vegas retaining fifty percent of the salary. Most quality free agent goaltenders will be seeking 3.5 million average annual value.

Jarry will be a good goaltender long term indeed.

I agree. I would think Pens would definitely want MAF for one season at 3.5M.

I disagree about the FA goalies price tag though. Most all Contending teams are up against the cap. And cash Strapped.

People are gonna very surprised with the low contracts this offseason. Buyers market. Amd teams with cap room are mostly rebuilding and be going after younger players with potential. Maybe a stop gap on a 1-2 year deal.
