Not close for Toews and Brannstrom is being let go for next to nothing. Not a fan.

Toews was a top pairing Dman who likely gets some fringe Norris votes this year and is signed to team friendly deal for another 3 years. And you offered a 3rd string goalie, a 27-year-old with 11 career points and a 4th rounder that has 10.9% chance of even making the NHL.

The equivalent of Chabot for Adam Werner, Sheldon Dries and a 4th.

Toews deal nowhere close. Oleksiak gets double that and 3-4 years

How is a year of Manson and Henrique at a very reasonable cap hit 'next to nothing' ? Not enough naturally. But seems OP deserves more credit 🧐

The Toews deal seems to assume they're stuck moving him but it's really not the case- an Erik Johnson buyout if needed would prevent it etc.

Also they could go 4-4-1

Their ancillary forwards are less valuable than him

Toews was traded for two 2nds just a year ago. Had a good year in Colorado too, I understand the idea of the Avs getting something is better than losing him for nothing but I still dont think that's close.



1 year of Manson when theyre not yet contending isnt ideal, Henrique is a middle 6C... not "nothing" but definitely not the ideal return for Brannstrom and Dac.

Manson is super overrated, terrible advanced stats, and just came off an injured season only playing 20 games and is only signed for a year. Henrique was on waivers and should be a cap dump with a pick attached. That is next to nothing.
