Personally I'd rather Gustafsson than Cole, he's cheaper and is doing work for us right now. Hopefully Allen does stay only cuz he's the best backup we've had since like 2010

Poehling for me. Also, we already have almost too many picks this draft. Change the 1st round pick to 2022

Sorry but Detroit cannot trade away a 1st line winger without getting an equally good or better one back. Doing this deal will only prolong the rebuild by at least one year or more likely two.

Bertuzzi for Caufield or something along those lines is what you'll have to offer for Detroit to bite.

That Danuallt Contract would haunt the Habs forever. Hes good in the playoffs but not a huge factor in the regular season along with once he cant keep up skating wise your paying 5 million to a guy who couldn't skate and has 0 production even in his prime

Lmaoooo that's funny, Detroit isn't going to be competing for anything at least another 3 years. Bertuzzi is also coming back from a back injury. Asking for Caulfield is delusional

I disagree. Caulfield is basically untouchable for Montreal. Poehling, a '22 1st and a '21 2nd would be a fair package in my opinion.

He'S good on the pp but coaches don't trust him 5 on 5. Id rather get a player very similar to chiarot and edmundsson so the top 4 gets lower minutes during the season

Wings can get a hell of a lot more than that for Bertuzzi.

The problem isn't the value of the the deal.

The problem is that we have no one to replace Bertuzzi with.

That deal would mean that it takes two years longer for Detroit to make the playoffs.

Not necessarily, depends on the steps that Berggren and Raymond make or even the next level like Niederbach or Kadeykin and you can never discount the surprise guys that explode out of nowhere on the depth chart (potentially Mastrosimone, Soderblom, Kivenmaki, etc) and Poehling could potentially be the 2C we need. There is also FA which we might be poised to jump into big in a couple years if the stars align.

I didn't ask for Caufield (improve your reading comprehension).

What I did was to inform you that Bertuzzi is currently so important to Detroit that for any team to pry him away they would have to overpay massively to get him.

Detroit simply does not have any player they can replace Bertuzzi with therefore that replacement would have to come from the team acquiring him or the deal will be rejected

It is correct that Detroit currently isn't in any position to contend but what you seem incapable of grasping is that by accepting your offer Detroit would be even further away from contending.

In a couple of years

Which is exactly what I'm saying. You want to trade away a 1st line winger that perhaps can be replaced in a couple of years? What do you want the team to do while they're waiting?

What's being proposed here is that Detroit prolong their rebuild with two, three or four years and that Larkin and the others have to wait until they're 35/36 years old when we're ready to make a push instead of 31/32 when it's time.

One of the last 4 picks in the 1st round isn't a good enough base for Wings to move Bertuzzi

In 4 years, Larkin will only be 28. Poehling will be NHL ready next season, we could always sign Ryan to another 1 year deal and have a top 6 of Vrana-Larkin-Zadina, Fabbri-Poehling/Rasmussen/Veleno(whoever earns the job in camp)-Ryan... I don't see an issue with that next year, or how it would set us back that far. Poehling is a pretty good asset, so it's not like we'd be giving away Bertuzzi....

Raymond, who is the most likely replacement for Bertuzzi, will not make the team next year. Lucas has a good chance to make the team out of camp in '22. Lucas will need a further one or two years before he is capable of reproducing what Bertuzzi does now.

There's your best case - 3 or 4 years until we are back in the same spot as today. Trading Bertuzzi should only be done when there is a fully developed replacement ready for him, i,e. in three years time at the earliest or if the trade itself includes that replacement, like the Mantha trade did.

The Mantha trade is a very good measuring stock. Detroit got a player fully capable of replacing the production of Mantha + assets that will help in the future.
What's missing here is the replacement of Bertuzzi's production, that's what makes this into a disaster of a trade for Detroit.

With Bertuzzi on the roster Detroit could make the playoffs as soon as in two years time, three years at the worst. Without Bertuzzi on the roster it'll take 6+ years before Detroit will be god enough.

Accepting this trade would condemn Detroit to a perpetual rebuild, like Buffalo.

I just don't think we're that far behind personally. I also think Berggren will make the team out of camp. If Zadina, Ras and Veleno all take steps forward next year, we're in a pretty good position. With all that said, obviously, we don't NEED to trade Bertuzzi and I'm not arguing that we should, I'm just stating that Poehling, a '22 1st and a '22 2nd would be fair value and would help with our center depth, which we lack.
