Description
Bowman thinks the roster is nice how it is, despite a gaping hole on that top line. He believes the youth can fill in when needed. But how much time does the hawks core have?

I like the idea, but I think Chicago would be able to get Rieder for less. Not much less, but less.

I don't know about that. McNeill never peaked the way the hawks wanted him to, as a hawks fan I make this trade all day.

IMHO I think that it is more Bowman recognizing that the holes are too big to fill this year. I don't think Bowman wants to waste picks and prospects on something that is a long shot.
With Hartman, Hino, and Kero all gaining almost a full year of NHL experience they will be even more reliable next year. Schmaltz, Forsling, and Motte all gaining a year of professional experience this year. You also have John Hayden (hope to god he signs) DeBrincat, and others coming in for organizational depth. There is a lot depth there that will most definitely improve the team next year.
If Bowman can end the season with cap space he will lessen the burden of the overage penalties for next year as well.

It doesn't look like Panarin will hit his big 2.5 million bonus for finishing in the top 10 in scoring, so the overage is probably going to be Campbell's 750K. The holes aren't huge, but I agree he doesn't want to give up any more prospects or picks. The hawks already have one of the weakest prospect pools in the league.

He won't hit Shcedule B but he will max schedule A which is $850,000. And there will be residual bonuses for games played on the younger guys too. You're looking at atleast $1.5-2 million in bonuses.

I think he already missed part of his schedule A as well. He didn't make the All-Star game. $212,500 worth.

There are like 8 categories that are part of Schedule A and he only has to hit 4 of them to max.

Barring injury he will probably hit:
Top six forward on Hawks in ice time (total or average, min 42GP)
top 3 forward on Hawks in +/- (min 42GP)
20 goals
35 assists
60 points
0.73 points per game (min 42GP)

He is on track for all of those so far this year.
