Why would Carolina do this?

Nylander and Aho are about even. But Faulk and Slavin are NHL Dmen. Carrick is an NHLer, Gauthier is a 4th liner, Rychel is an AHLer and a distant pick. Why trade one of your top six Dman (Hunwick) to playoff competitor? From the Leafs view, trading 4 regulars when you're making a playoff push doesn't seem beneficial.

Nah, Nylander is much better imo.

I kinda think he is more valuable to Leafs also, cause he might be their centre of the future (behind Matthews).

Faulk is an all-star RH top pairing dman on a good contract. Is that not the EXACT thing T.O is looking for?
Slavin is a young cheap top 4 stud dman. Another young stud dman to add the team? Whats not to like.
Aho is a talented winger with great skills. He is not as good as Nylander probably but is he so far off? Not really. Maybe he isn't a potential 80 pt player but 60 pt isn't out of possibility. He's already not that far behind Nylander and is 1 year younger......

Nylander is the best piece here from Toronto, no doubt there. He can be a good player going forward.

But Carrick. Gauthier, Rychel are fringe to depth only NHLer's at the moment. Carrick does not make the Habs lineup when they are healthy. Neither does Gauthier nor Rychel.

Aho, Faulk, Slavin all make the Habs roster right now. No questions asked.

FMarco: I think the Leafs should make the Canes deal. I still say Rychel is meaningless in the trade and say Nylander is of more value than Aho. Didn't I say that.? Still wouldn't trade Hunwick to Boston.
Don't think it helps the Leafs short term, but long term yes.
