That’s an overpayment. Don’t give up on young defenseman. Pulock was a regular till he was 23, Sean Walker was 25 when he was a regular. Defenseman takes time. Especially for a forward who bring nothing.

I'm all for trading lilly since we don't really have room for him, but not in this deal.

As a Kings guy, that's not enough for Liljegren.

It’s not that I’m giving up on Liljegren, it’s that at this point in time I just don’t see a place for him in the near future. The trade probably is an overpayment but I honestly didn’t think it through much. He was just who i felt was expendable in search of a decent player with some toughness. In hindsight I would probably ask for a 2nd or 3rd as well.

I was just looking for a decent tough guy to replace Simmonds. Probably would have asked for a pick as well in hindsight, but I honestly didn’t think it through as much.

Anybody have any comments regarding signings and roster construction? I feel like this team could actually be pretty good, especially if Robertson comes in and plays well.

IMO, they gotta bring Hyman back. But ebven with him, I really don't know if the team is balanced enough to compete. 4 great players with a supporting cast of nobodies doesn't seem to be good enough.

We tried the toughness mantra and it doesn’t work. Every team has an identity and the Leafs got away from their, which was speed, skill and possession. Plus Liljegren is going to play next year. This year we tried line combos of Rielly-Holl and Dermott-Holl. The management and coaching staff was checking if it was Muzzin driving the pair or if Holl is good. I think we got our answer and it’s Muzzin drives the pair. Liljegren became defensive responsible in the AHL and I rather give him a shot and trade Holl

I agree but a team will give him 6 million. I rather use that 6 million and get Bradon Saad and more pieces like Goodrow. I don’t think Engvall is returning either this year.

I don't think Saad or Hyman get 6mil, but if you're right, I agree, let them walk.

Saad is for sure not getting 6 million. I have the Leafs getting him from between 4.5-5 million a year. Hyman I have a sneaking suspicion Edmonton will offer him 6 million.
