Hakanpnää had a really good season in his own zone, but was pretty terrible at every other aspect. I'd take a chance at him, but he's definitely a prime candidate to regress significantly, and if he regresses defensively he probably isn't an NHL player. Giving him more than 1 year and more than 2mil would be a mistake.

Agreed! But Sens can’t land big fish UFAs. It’s a fact. Bozak is a reasonable expectation for GM PD this off season.

Fair comment. 3 years could be a bit much for Hanakpaa. But he’s been very good in playoffs. I’d like to complement to our offensive D-man with a good stay at home big guy (and not washed up guys like Gudbranson/Coburn).

If we can get Stastny at two years that would be perfect. I see a guy like Bozak or Zajak being more likely for a budget team.

I don't think Ottawa would even need to break the bank to have the best offer for a mid tier guy like Stastny or Granlund. I still think Ottawa might set sights higher, but I can't really find a deal that is fair value that I'd be comfortable with
