No interest, Tavares is overpaid and it screws up our cap situation for the future

Fair enough, I wanted to do something different because all of leafs moves had them grabbing Karlsson from Vegas. Maybe if the leafs added Liljegren?

Its not as much about the value going both ways but with the Kreider and Trouba contracts we are going into a cap bind when we have to pay people like Fox, Kakko, and Laf

Yeah I wouldn't want Tavares' contract on my team when you gotta resign RFA's within a few years, the only positives are that Smith and some buyouts come off the books when you need to resign those players. Trouba, Kreider, and Tavares would all be tradeable contracts to a team looking for one last cup push though.

Don’t need to add Rielly at the cost of Wilson. Rielly is also a UFA at the end of this year while wilson has 3 years left on an awesome contract. It’s a no for the caps.

Reilly could be a potential flip candidate, I can see why the caps would say no because they arguably don't need defense but it's a fairly even trade none the less

It would really make more sense to just resign Zibenejad. Slightly younger. Cheaper. Very productive.

Kind of a lateral move. Would make more sense to acquire a C along with Zibenejad, rather than one that replaces him.

This is an interesting trade if you swap Tavares for Nylander
