This has been my favorite post in a while.

My final point...relying on analytics to judge the Hurricanes players is an inherent mistake. For the way the Canes play (and any other team who plays a similar style), the advanced analytic numbers will lead you to wrong conclusions.

Using Analytics alone...who is the better defenseman in the first three game of the TB/CAR series, Dougie Hamilton or Victor Hedman?

Or, to know if a player is a good or not...this is outside the box...i watch them play hockey.

Try it.

Your actually so dumb. Your eyes say Dougie is good. And then the numbers say he’s elite. You should try learn simple math so you can understand the simplistic of stats.

Stats like what?
There really isn’t a number that quantifies what a defensemen does. I tried to dumb it down for you because, well, seemed like you needed it. I’ve dumbed it down as much as i can, and you still just choose to use laughing face emojis and “lol,” instead of adding anything of substance, so I’m going to assume you’re a teenager, and just move on from this.

Substance? He told you exactly what showed that Dougie was the best Dman on his team and said “but his TOI is a little less so he bad”. Just because you don’t understand stats and hate a player doesn’t make you right.

No he didn’t. He just said, “dougie good.” Thats it.

The eye test says hamilton is a solid 2nd pair d man thats very very good on the powerplay. Nothing wrong with that.

He gave numbers that showed Dougie is better than Slavin but because you’re too dumb to understand them you said “but he’s TOI”.

You should get your eyes checked out.

@cheddamonkey37 how do your analytics show for the first goal scored by TB in Game 4? What I saw is 3 failed clearing attempt to clear by Dougie then Dougie missing his defensive assignment right near the net for a wide open tip.

This is such a dumb analytics vs eye test argument, but I do think it's funny that fans of teams that have had Dougie on them are on the eye test side and fans of other teams are all using analytics.

With that being said, I would take Dougie for this amount. I would take him for up to 8.2M AAV. I honestly think Dougie has been playing scared after his injury last year. I think he is scared to get hurt before hitting UFA. I'm not saying I like that in a player, but I kinda of understand it

I asked a question, I didn’t go off. Any my ‘eye test’ isn’t based on one goal. It’s the inconsistency I’ve seen the last three years. The challenge for me is I just can’t get on board with paying the big nut for Dougie, I just don’t see it.

He’d be great at $6-7M, but anything more and there pushing it.
