Description
It’s a lot and it’s probably unrealistic but that’s why we are only armchair GM’s.

Chuck needs to get rid of one of Voracek or JVR to open up cap space but preferably both of them to truly change the make up of this team.

Chuck immediately needs to sign 1 top D man if not 2 top D men and a strong back up goalie. After that if there is enough cap space, a new forward or two to shake up the offense would be nice.

Jones and Reinhart have already said they want to leave their teams and both are targets the Flyers should jump on. The trades for them may require a bit more but they have picks and some solid prospects that should be able to allow them to make a strong offer.

Goodrow and Halak will probably be cap casualties on their teams that the Flyers should also jump on.

Dougie will be a key piece to all of this and Chuck needs to map out a strong enough plan that will convince him to sign with the Flyers.

Getting rid of Hagg is just a cap move.

This may screw them up long term but the moves put them in win-now mode and then they can take it 1 year at a time with signings and re-signings. For the 2022-2023 season, their new contracts should look like this. Giroux and Coots will likely just swap contracts. Farabee will get a Konecny-esque contract. Allison, Laczynski, and Frost will get small raises. NAK and Patrick will either walk or get a prove it deal. Jones will re-sign and Braun will walk. If they play their cards right they should be able to fit everyone under the cap or only suffer minor losses with a few walking.

Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments, but keep it constructive. None of us are GM’s for a reason and everyone doing this is obviously trying to have fun and think about what could be so no reason to be rude to your team’s fellow fans or opposing team’s fans.

Thanks!

I think Devils fans are 50/50 on JVR but I would do that trade.

Yeah, I’d say the Rinehart trade requires a bit more. Myers is the only piece in the deal worth much. What will be a mid round first and a mid round second in a year and a prospect I’ve never heard of doesn’t really move the needle. Granted that draft is supposed to be as good as last year, none of those players will be seen in the NHL for a few years.

The idea that Buffalo is looking for a futures exclusively is patently false. I think they can’t afford to blow everything up and start over, because the fans won’t buy any tickets to watch them keep losing. Myers is a good start, but they need someone else who can help them immediately. Not to mention I have a feeling the Flyers need to move money in order to make it work. Personally I’d like Patrick, but he won’t cost much salary wise. I like Lindblom, but everyone does because of his story. Still, I’m not sure he’s the right guy to help buffalo if this were a deal. Buffalo needs a real top six talent to replace Reinhart with, and he’s not it.

I like the idea of JVR. Contract is a tad bit hefty but we could use a forward like him.

I think this is a solid offer. But on futures, I agree, although we have no idea how Adams will act. Foerster seems like a good prospect and this 1st is not too late, we could have steal another good prospect in this draft range.

Absolutely yeah it's very underappreciated that JVR finished this season with his usual points per game (0.7 roughly) and likely declines soon still

What about sending back Boqvist or someone of his ilk back for JVR low cost guy maybe needing a change of scenery as he's struggled in the NHL so far

That's going to be outbid no matter how much "nuh-uh" you try to throw in. Star players don't grow on trees.

Exactly I think they still could add a bit more but Foerster I believe will be a very good player and had a strong AHL season at a young age. It certainly gets them in the door and probably as a front runner where they can hammer out more details to it.

Maybe it gets them outbid but it certainly gets them in the door and gives them an idea of what they are willing to offer so that they can try to come to an agreement. Star players don’t grow on trees but a start player who has basically publicly said he won’t be there after next year also means he needs to get sold. A solid D prospect, a PP quarterback, a mid round 1st round pick in a strong draft class, and a 3rd as a sweetener is a strong offer. How much teams give up depends on if he is willing to re-sign with that team. No point in trading a fortune for someone who will only be there 1 year so if he wants to sign long term with Flyers I assume Chuck would add a bit more to the trade.
