Welcome to Cap friendly. I like your trade ideas! Couple of small critiques; I think it's unlikely that Eklund, Raymond or Berggren make the team to start the season. Last I heard Fabbri was on track to start the season healthy and with him on IR and not LTIR you are one player over the roster limit (24). Also I think you would have to agree to buy out Johnson to get him to waive and come here. That way Colorado (or another contending team) could resign him for cheap.

You're not getting Hugo and the first . JBB has publicly stated Alnefelt isn't available. I realize that's GM speak for he'll cost way too much, and this isn't thst

Eklund isn't a NHL center is a winger in the NHL and he won't make a team out of camp. He will need at least a year. Detroit takes Johnson for a 1st and TB gets future considerations or a 7th. A 1st and a top prospect is just too greedy Detroit will benefit from Johnson as our #2C next season. I think Namestnikov goes to Seattle TB is trying to shed cap and they don't want him back. I have no idea if Colorado would give up a 1st to move Johnson but $6M x 2yrs is worth more than a 1st - 5th.

COL isn’t doing that trade. EJ is either healthy enough to play or he stays on LTIR, and make no mistake COL will do exactly what TBL did if they have to.

Disagree. Alnefelt doesn't move the bar that much (neither do any of their prospects). Johnson is NOT an NHL second line center. He's 5' 9", 32 year old declining third line winger who makes WAY to much money for three more years. Seattle will ask for more. I mean we got a 2nd for one year of a guy making 5,7 million who played defense for us.

But he's not completely a cap dump and Detroit will benefit quite a bit from him. So I think a 1st covers it. With the wingers Detroit has Johnson at the #2C immediately gives Detroit 2nd line that can score and it taking pressure off Larkin and the first line. Do you remember when Hull was on the Wings? He still talks about how much fun he had playing with Datsyuk and Zetterberg it reinvigorated him, the 2 Kidds and an Old Goat line. He is a far better option than just about any other center Detroit could bring in.

Eklund isn't an NHL center and most likely 2yrs out. Rasmussen showed a lot progress but he isn't a #2C in fact Detroit want to use him as a shut down center and Veleno isn't a #2C yet maybe he gets there maybe he doesn't. Thank god the Fabbri at center idea has run its course and that wasn't pretty. Now this is just my opinion.

Yeah I think we want Johnson for different reasons because we have a different perceptions of him. I don't think he will be useful except as a below average place holder. I want him to ensure we don't get any better for the next two years because I don't think we're anywhere near done with this rebuild without a franchise center. I'm more than willing to suffer through two more bad seasons if it means we find that center. To me Larkin will be more comfortable in the second line roll which he's more suited to anyway. I'm not near as high as other Wings fans on Veleno or Moose but one of the will probably grab that third spot but I don't think either has the offense to be a second line pivot.

What cap issues? Have you really looked at the Avs cap situation? They have almost $20M in cap space going into the off season. For the sake of argument say they lose Graves in the XD or for that matter Compher or Donskoi they end up with almost $24M in cap space. How is that cap issues? Hell let’s say they give Landy $8M, Grubauer $5.5M they can then bridge Makar at $7M and still have over $3M in cap space. If anybody takes less that’s more cap space. So tell me again what their cap issues are?

So you're going to ice a team with ten forwards? You're not going to resign Jost? You don't need a back up goaltender? And those contacts are all conveniently low so they fit your narrative.

Those aren’t conveniently low, $8M for Landy is low? Lehner signed for $5.5M so that’s low? A $7M BRIDGE is low???? Come on man you’re being ridiculous. They have a back up goal tender already, Francouz. How do you figure 10 forwards, MacK, Mikko, Kadri, Burakovsky, Donskoi, Compher, Nichushkin, Newhook, LOC, Kaut, Bowers, Ranta. Jost isn’t breaking the bank and neither is Timmins. If EJ isnt 100% even 99% he will get put on LTIR and there is another $6M. So again I ask you what exactly are the Avs cap issues?

I love the enthusiasm here and your discussions. I did this in 15 minutes so of course it is not 100% well thought out but tried to make reasonable trades. I myself am from Sweden and the same hometown as Berggren, so it is a bit wishful thinking that he takes a place in the roaster. I love Eklund in the SHL but there we can also put Fabbri in the third line C.

Regarding the trades i really think Colorado would love to dump Johnson. He is often injured, plays a small role in NHLs best D-lineup. I read Makar bridge 7M. My opinion is that he has already proven his greatness and does not want bridgedeal. I think 9,5 M i caphit for Makar, Landeskog 8M, Grubauer 5-6 M, and they must renew other really good players, I think Avs would love getting rid of Johnsons 6M and and since avs is in win mode now, i think they are paying for it. The only crux here is Johnson's no-trade. But of course, this is just speculation from me.

I agree that 1st, Hugo and Tyler Johnson is maybe a bit too much, but the same here. Tampa need the cap space and in todays NHL, cap space cost a lot. I think Tampa want to ger rid of that contract. Point, Sergachev and Cernak all will be resigning before Johnsons contract expire and I think this i one way to get rid if it. The only crux here is Johnson's no-trade. But of course, this is just speculation from me.

Cheers up, it's fun playing GM.
