Would NYR move Zibanejad in order to make room to trade for Eichel? Or would they try to stack themselves at C and keep both? Maybe there needs to be one more piece added from STL in that trade? Only has 1 yr left on his deal...

The assets coming back would most likely be going to Buffalo.
The Rangers could get a better return (although he does have a NMC) especially if they eat salary.

"If he re-signs" conditional picks are no longer allowed. And regardless of how the Rangers would feel, I'm not eager to give up that much to place another block in front of RobTom playing center, let alone one due a raise next summer.

What if this return is immediately flipped as part of the trade for Eichel though? I guess getting Eichel makes more sense if NYR can keep Zibanejad, but they have to start paying a lot of the young guys.

Anything coming in, would be going to Buffalo, with Rangers adding something like Chytil/Lundkvist, 1st, maybe another pick/prospect.
