Value is pretty much equal. Might be some minor assets added on either side, but it's likely both teams will be looking for a shakeup after missing the playoffs/getting ousted in the first round.

I think it depends on his no-trade list and when he submits it (he doesn't have a full NTC). Calgary has been pretty good prior to this season, so it's likely that Calgary isn't on his no-trade list, unless he submits it before the Caps can trade him.

Monahan is the best value return for Kuznetsov that's even remotely possible, although depending on how the Caps' front office plans this off-season, it could be for futures instead of a hockey trade.

I'd rather give McM a try than Monhan, who isn't very good. Also, Eller is key to this team. Don't think they'll ever move him unless they really need the space.

Winnipeg isn't giving up a 2nd for a low end LD with a bad contract.

It's going to be an interesting off-season, and I think it all depends on the value you'd get for Kuznetsov in a trade (if he's really going to be traded). You might have to make some pretty significant moves depending on what Ovi wants in his contract to clear the space.

Not sure why you think Dillon is a low-end LD, considering he was 14th in the NHL among defensemen in goals above replacement.

How could a human being think that kuznetsov has similar value to monahan.

Kuznetsov is negative value. Why would anyone want him?

Yeah, he isn't negative value. He's had a couple of issues off the ice, but is a pretty much guaranteed 60-70 point scorer in a full season, and is only three years removed from being the best player in the playoffs. Kuznetsov played in nine fewer games than Monahan this season and still outscored him. Kuznetsov has more playoff points in the 2018 playoff run than Monahan has in his career.

The off ice issues are what makes Kuznetsov for Monahan equal value.

He’s 29. Forwards decline around that time all the time. And guess what? It kind of looks like he’s declining. He wasn’t great this year. I understand that it was a bad year for him, but if you’re an opposing team in a flat cap world and the caps say, “hey! Want to add this guy that has off ice issues? We clearly don’t want him. He just had the worst year of his career, and he’s hitting the age where forwards often decline. And you can get him for four years at 7.8 million!” Would you even continue the conversation? Probably not.

I can't see Seattle taking Schultz. He's just that bad in his own end. I say this as a pens fan. I've seen him play a lot. They let him walk for a reason. WSH should have known better they played against him enough.

He's 31 at the start of next season, doesn't play a position of need for Winnipeg, will block better players and is overpaid for the bottom pairing.
