Description

In this scenario, we leave Ovi unsigned until after the expansion draft. IMO this leaves Seattle picking between Dillon, Vanecek, and Sprong. I don't think Seattle can pass on a top 4 defender, so Dillon goes to Seattle.

Also in this scenario, I hang onto Kuzy (although that is very much not a sure thing).

He wouldn't be. He's a UFA meaning Caps could have a handshake agreement with him but if they wait until after the draft, he won't be eligible for the expanion draft

Leaving Kutz unprotected and even drafted by Seattle wouldn't be the worse thing. Gives Caps another 7.8m in cap space to find a centre.

Any UFA can be selected by Seattle. They'd just have to gamble and hope they could sign him. I assume Seattle wouldn't do that though, Ovi is probably a cap for his whole career
