Yeah, no. The price to trade either Reinhart or Eichel within the division is even higher because we have to play against them eight times a year. This does not come close to getting it done. The Bruins won’t even qualify Kase, and Buffalo’s second round pick is only a few after Boston’s first. Why is a pick even in the trade going back to Boston?

So - it's Boston's second rounder, which is literally a round later.

Say what you want about Kase, but he's really good when healthy. Buffalo has the time to let him heal, improve, and either sell or keep him when he's back to being himself.

DeBrusk is a really solid player, also in need of time and opportunity to develop. Is he Reinhart? No. But he's a young top-6 forward you can keep or sell for an additional return.

Vaaka is a nice addition for any team with patience to develop him.

I guess the most likely outcome is getting two top-6 wingers, a 1st round, and a still somewhat interesting D-prospect for a really good, but not elite forward.

I don't know why you care about the division - you're still getting slapped around by Boston. Presumably you think you're winning trades - so if you are, you'd want to rip off your division rivals?

The trouble with Kase is he never is healthy. He was good 3 years ago, but he hasn’t been healthy since. My point is the draft picks are pretty much a lateral move.

I'm telling you, it's like 20th OA for 50th OA, you're not reading it correctly. It's Bostons 1st for *Bostons* 2nd. Idk, if I'm Buffalo I'd rather take a chance on a trade where only a part of the value is derived from a guy who's 30 games in 18/19 were some of the best in the league, and let him rehab, work with a proactive health coach and see what you get out of it.

I wouldn’t be disappointed if the Sabres were to take a chance on him after Boston does not send him a qualifying offer. I think we both know they won’t. He doesn’t exactly move the needle in a trade for buffalo’s best player not named Jack Eichel.

I see what youre trying to get at but this really isnt a whole lot going to Buffalo. Youre really only giving question marks and a slight upgrade in a draft slot. Realistically a lot of other teams would outbid this offer, especially out of the division
