This is a wildly inaccurate statement: if you're only considering the three games Bear played after coming back from a concussion too early, or merely looking at Tippett's inability to optimize his 5v5 roster before the back 10 minutes of a game, then I can see how you might think this. Bear is Edmonton's best all-around RHD, and his numbers confirm this. Tippett routinely turns to Nurse-Bear at the end of each game simply because Barrie can't play defence and Larsson can't make a breakout pass.

Tippet's tune might change come playoff time when the whistles start going away and reunite the Nurse-Bear pairing permanently. He's been an excellent RHD and will likely only be usurped by Bouchard as Edmonton's best righty defender in a couple seasons.
