I think there's a trade there, but I don't think it's 1-to-1. I had a fun discussion with some Rangers fans a few weeks ago where I thought Akil Thomas would be someone the Kings would be more inclined to part with in trade, but the Kings would need to add a pick to make the trade fair. I think the opposite is true with a Kupari/Robertson trade, where the Rangers probably need to add something. Kupari has had 2 pro seasons now (1.5 if you want to count the injury) and is near-ready to make the jump. I can't particularly speak to Robertson as I haven't followed him, but I doubt the Kings want to trade a near-NHL ready player for someone who has only played in Juniors and will need professional time in Ontario. Not when they're looking to turn the corner next year.
In addition, I think Kupari offers some wing flexibility that the Kings desperately need. So I'm not sure they're willing to part with him just yet without seeing what he can do at the NHL level. That's just my opinion, though. Take it for what it's worth.
