Description

Just curious what the market looks like for young RHD. I view these guys as future NHL talent, but not quite elite A-level guys. Devils have very thin depth at RHD in their pipeline.

"Taxi squad" - not available
Starting lineup - all available
Cap space - plenty available

As long as his skating improves, he will be good.

Honestly if Tampa gets desperate I could see it happening. But the chances of Johnson waiving to NJ probably aren’t very high which might be the big roadblock. Tampa would still be looking for a return despite Johnson’s negative value which could cause issues for NJ

I would if you think you’re getting a future top pair RD in someone like Brannstrom/Foote/Timmins. I think he will lose his spot on the top 6 wing to players Holtz, Foote, Clarke, and one of the 21 first round picks. I also don’t think he provides enough value as a center and it’s not worth having him at 3LW where I would prefer a sharangovich or kuokkanen.

NJD gotta figure out a way to add a young top-4 d-man. If Zacha is the ask, and the return is right, would have to let him go.

Perhaps. However with the lack of RHD depth it would be tough to trade Foote for a forward.

From the Kings, we’re actually looking to improve the same RD in our prospect pool since we’re rich everywhere else. So I don’t see them doing this. You might have a shot at Grans, since his development appears to have stalled and had an off year. But Faber is awesome. He should have been a first rounder. They won’t be parting with him and Spence will be a regular in the NHL too (probably projected as 2-3 RD and 2nd power play QB).
