Worse. First waiting for five games for Olesiak to be in the lineup. Olesiak and Bogosian don't look a very mobile combo to get the puck out of their zone.
Thornton playing centre....no thanks.
Robertson with the Leafs. Think if the he was that good the Leafs would have him in the lineup already. Leafs need a power winger on that line to help get the puck to Matthews and Marner, not Robertson.

I know Olesiak is now the new darling of Leafs fans. But is he better than Dermot along side Bogosian...that's debatable.
And then we have Marincin taking Dermot's spot for five games.

Dermott is a frustrating player to watch. But there is still a major upside to his game. The risk of playing Marincin for 5 games is not something to take lightly lol. Ultimately I would like to see an upgrade on defense, but that market is quite limited...

I wouldn't mind acquiring a expiring contract NHL veteran but not at the price of trading a current Leaf Dman, especially with an American based team
We see these type of trades all the time,,,,Leafs trade two middling player for another teams two middling players and the Leafs are adding prospects and picks. Don't know why so many think mid to bottom end players on other teams are so much better than the Leafs mid to bottom enders.

I'm with you the lack of mobility on the 3rd pair in this scenario should scare Leafs fans. Olesiak is the product of the Stars tight defensive system. If I'm Dubas I'm not touching him.

Another urban legend that won't go away. "The Leafs are a bad defensive team." Leafs and Stars are tied for ninth in the league in GAA.

agreed, if we listen to Dubas interview its clear they plan to give Sandin a long look during this last big stretch of games. I think the plan is to move Dermott at the deadline for either a backup or whatever Dubas has his eyes on, bring up Sandin and run the Dcore of

Dermott was really bad the first 15 games but all of a sudden his game has gotten much better. Fewer turnovers, more offensive drive, and better defensive plays. Its tough to say if hes staying or going at the deadline due to a little rookie named Sandin. With Dubas latest interview its clear both he and keefe want to see him play. April 12th is gonna be very interesting

I would like to see Sandin get NHL playing time this season. If the Leafs hope. for a long playoff run, due to injuries you need seven maybe even eight NHL competent Dman. Nothing worse is having a guy sitting or weeks, and then suddenly been thrust into playoff action So even if Sandin surplants Dermott, I still don't think Dermot should be moved.

Both are very cheap options. Just what the leafs need.
