Description
Take on some salary for picks and get an upgrade on the 4th line in the process to reward the improved play over the past few weeks. Also gives SJ the second forward with games played requirements met to expose in the expansion draft.

All while not giving up future assets for rentals and putting too much strain on the 2021-22 cap situation. May have issues in 2022-23, but cross that bridge when you get there with Hertl and Ferraro extensions (can always retain 50% or buyout Hagelin if needed).

So Buffalo can magically retain $6 million on Hall to fit him into a contender's cap crunch? Or are you just unable to read that the acquiring team is the one giving up the 3rd round pick and this is just a proxy? Given your posting track record, going to go with the latter.

When the team that acquires Hall gives a 3rd round pick to a third party to get them to retain on Hall, that means there is one less draft pick that can be spent to acquire Hall from Buffalo.

That means there's a higher opportunity cost or a bigger turn-off for the other team to acquire Hall from Buffalo.

Draft picks don't grow on tree.

If anything, you'll be lucky to get a 5th round pick for retaining 2.5 million on Hall as a third party, which the Leafs did when Lehner was traded to Vegas.

Economics and basic arithmetic seem to be hard for you, but you'll learn eventually wink

I find interesting that you are unable to determine what Hall is worth or what team you think will acquire him.

Key details are obviously lacking in your post.

Based on the fact you become angry when you don't get the praise you think you deserve, I have a suggestion for you.

I recommend logging off for a couple of hours to go for a walk, getting a drink and taking a few deep breaths before logging back on.

You'll glad you did smile

Calling a post the dumbest you've read today when you can't explain why.

Typical of someone coming to the rescue of another user from the same fanbase who also puts emotion before logic.

Since you think the Sharks can just come up with 4 million dollars out of thin air during this pandemic while another team spends an extra pick unnecessarily, you probably think both money and draft picks grow on trees.

When or if Buffalo trades Hall, the Sharks won't be involved and this will all be moot.

No sense for you to cry about it.

I'm pretty sure you are either 15 or a troll buts lets go,

Since you are incapable of reading, you should be able to see that BUFFALO is retaining 4mil, and SJ is retaining another 2mil, in exchange for a pick from the 3rd team who is paying a seperate package for Hall. This isn't hard to understand.

so 2 million dollars is not coming out of thin air, this is something DW has publicly stated he is looking to do, and money is no obstacle in SJ, but I'm sure you don't know that since you are an Ottawa fan.

"Unnecessarily" is the biggest hunk of **** you have said, teams don't have cap space, a 2mil Hall vs 4mil Hall is a big difference for teams.

Not a single thing you said has any basis in reality, screams "logic>emotion" like you think you're Ben Shapiro, and then whines that no one else understands, typical.

No, we can just read and see where Pierre LeBrun (who gets his info directly from the Sharks' GM) said the Sharks are looking to use their cap space to acquire additional assets (draft picks) to help facilitate a trade at the deadline. They have ample cap space and an owner worth $10+ billion. So funding this operation and allowing the team to spend to the salary cap is more than feasible.

Buffalo isn't going to be able to trade Hall to a contender without there being salary offset from a third team. Even at 50% retention, the overwhelming majority of the teams that are in it enough to trade for Hall don't have $4 million in deadline space to acquire him. Hence where the Sharks (or Blackhawks also rumored) come in to retain an additional $2 million and make it more plausible for a team to bring Hall's money on the books. The Leafs did this in the Lehner from Chicago to Vegas deal last year and were given a 5th round pick in exchange. Given Hall makes more and cap space is even tighter leaguewide, the 3rd round pick is more than fair compensation.

Somebody is obviously triggered and looking for a fight because she is having a bad day. Wow!

In one post, you refer to me as being 15, a troll, an Ottawa fan incapable of reading, a whiner who tries to be Ben Shapiro and a bunch of other things.

I'd love to meet you in person because you sound like the nicest person who would never resort to cheap and petty insults :/

I'll say this to try to calm your anger because based on the tone of your posts, you're obviously triggered:

By looking at this ACGM post on the fly when there are countless others that are worth commenting on, it's not immediately clear to anyone at a quick glance how much money either Buffalo or San Jose are retaining.

SJS2122 could have clearly stated anywhere in his ACGM post to anyone who is skimming through it "Buffalo retains 4 million in salary" and "San Jose retains 2 million in salary".

He chose not to do that.

A third party (San Jose) that is retaining 2 million salary in a three-way trade is entitled to a 5th or 6th round pick, not a 3rd.

I refer you to the Robin Lehner trade between Chicago, Toronto and Vegas as to why that is.

It is unnecessary to give a 3rd round pick to a 3rd party because it would be better served as a return for Buffalo in any Taylor Hall trade.

San Jose has less of an entitlement to it than Buffalo does.

Buffalo is the team that is giving up Taylor Hall, not San Jose.

You should know that.

Given that you're super hot, angry and ready to explode right now, I'll make the same suggestions that I made to SJS2212.

I recommend logging off for a couple of hours to go for a walk, getting a drink and taking a few deep breaths before logging back on to comment on my posts.

You'll have a clear head and be able to better apply logic instead of raw emotion.

If you can't, then good luck to you.
