The Blues can't afford that, and wouldn't do it if they could. They need Parayko back healthy, not a rental RD.

I think they consider it if Andersen isn't coming back this season. And if no one else wants to pay a 2nd because no one else needs a goalie, I think they may offer less for Ulmark. Buffalo has no negotiating power on this one. They are keeping him if they can sign him, if they can't they are losing him for nothing in the summer and how many teams need a goalie? Really no one who's in a playoff spot. On top of that, there are other teams with goalies that could be moved as well. Is Ulmark the hot name and the best option? Sure. However, Campbell is the hotter hand and is already on the team so we are looking for insurance and an improvement over Hutchinson. There are other options so why pay more than you have too?

Cats would want to improve their defense if anything and Ristolainen doesn’t do that....easy no

As a Sabres fan, I'm ok with the FLA and STL trades, though I'm not thrilled about sending Risto to a team that is likely in our division next year.

It's a big no from me on the NYI and TOR trades.

Komorov doesn't do enough good things at this point to warrant taking him for a year. If it was expiring, sure.

I'm not giving Ullmark up for a late 2nd round. I understand the Sabres aren't in the mix this year and that UIllmark is a UFA. Still, they have many young players who have not had a lot of winning at the NHL level. Finishing the season playing .500ish hockey the rest of the way with Ullmark will be more valuable to those players than the 60th pick in the 2021 draft.

Not sure what else you think you'd get for him. If he isn't resigning, move him.

We need to add players like komorov. We are soft, one of, if not the easiest team to play against. Need players with a little skill that go all out every game. We should have claimed him when he was waived.

I understand that but I'd rather have a future tandem of Soup and Ullmark. Soup is the hot hand right now but it's good to have insurance and if Campbell gets hurt it'd be good to have the best option available. It's better to pay a little more then be conservative when it comes to goaltending. In my opinion anyway.

To hand the keys to Ulmark is risky though, what is he? What he's been this season or what he's been for the rest of his career? Look at Markstrom and Hart this year. Markstrom was insane in Vancouver but doesn't look good in Calgary. Hart was really good last here and is utter garbage this year. How does anyone know how Ulmark will play in TO? The pressure will go up 1000 times just from the market and on top of that, he'll be on a contender with the expectation of a cup run. How does he respond to that in a shortened pandemic season, in which he has to quarantine and then meet a new team and get comfortable.

All of that lowers the value. It's not at all a sure thing. And his limited track record increases the risk even more. A guy like Bernier has been through more and has survived in TO. So spending a 3rd for him could be seen as a wiser plan, you know what you'll get. Which is a good backup. What will you get with Ulmark? Hopefully a tandem goalie to share the load with Campbell next season. But what if he can't handle the pressure of the TO market? What if he has trouble adjusting, what if what if what if? He doesn't have that much more experience than Hutchinson who is playing well.

Bernier did not work in TO. Leafs fell hard after he joined the team and I'll still die on the hill that he wasn't needed in the 1st place. Goaltending was not the issue in 2013 lack of talent was.

As for present time. Ullmark might be the bigger question mark but he has the higher ceiling and we won't need to worry about the expansion draft. There's also a difference between being THE guy like in Buffalo and being a "3rd string" in TO.

So if he's coming in as the 3rd string in TO, what is the piece we want to pay to get him? A 4th? A 3rd tops? If that's the case I'm all for it. If it's a 1st or a 2nd that's just silly.

Conditional 2022 4th. If he resigns (after expansion) then it's a 2nd next year. Buffalo has 0 leverage.

Yeah I am fine with that although those types of conditions don't exist any more.

Didn't Devils just get a condional 4th in the Palmeri trade?
