STL - EDM Nurse to Blues

Créé par: PuckShmuck87
Équipe: 2020-21 Blues de St-Louis
Date de création initiale: 4 avr. 2021
Publié: 4 avr. 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Blues need an elite LHD. Oilers need a solid LW to compliment McDavid and Draisaitl. EDM gets the opportunity to see if Schwartz is the LT answer prior to hitting free agency. Dunn and Scandella are serviceable top-4 D. Blues probably let Russell walk at end of season and don't protect one of Faulk or Krug.

Nurse is having a really good season, but Dunn has been elite during the two previous seasons. I wouldn't trade him and two other solid pieces for Nurse one year removed from UFA

Nurse’s game this year has gone to a whole another level, he is probably going to me in the top 5 for the Norris trophy. The only way the Oilers trade him is for an elite top 6 winger with term. Saying that I doubt that the Oilers would trade him at all.

this is arguably worst than any of the Pietro trade rumors from last year. Dunn>>>>Nurse and you want to throw Schwartz and scandella away on a short term Russel?

Oilers are not trading their core piece PERIOD. Him McDavid and Drai are the core, and you want 2 of our 3 left D.
That would demolish us.
Brutal trade

It's a 30 games sample man. He was decent at best during the last two seasons.

Is this your first crack at hockey? Yes that’s what happens with D. Around the 300 game mark they finally get it. Yes it’s small, but it starts somewhere.

The only stat he is top two in for the entire league is goals. And he has 12. Nothing to ride home about. The upside on dunn is significantly better considering he's playing on the right side, and isn't benefiting from free assists from McDavid. Put burse on buffo or detroit and he's a nobody again next year

You don't go from decent second pairing guy to best dman in the league in the span of 30 games. Get back to earth. He just has big puck luck this season and luck don't last forever.

21/27 of Nurse's points (78%) this season have been goals assisted by/assists on the goals of McDavid and/or Draisaitl. He has definitely benefited from their elite offensive touch.

Among players with >100 TOI, Nurse has scored 12 goals this season including 7.4 goals above expected (most among D) which leads us to think that he's been a lucky shooter this season. Goals Above Shooting Talent? First in the entire league with 7.3.

His defensive game is the biggest issue. This is only one statistic but Nurse has xGA of 2.76 and he ranks 138th among 151 defensemen (>400 TOI). That's definitely not top2 D numbers.

Jonas Brodin, Aaron Ekblad, Adam Fox, Samuel Girard, Dougie Hamilton, Victor Hedman, Cale Makar, Charlie McAvoy, Adam Pelech, Jeff Petry, Ryan Pulock, Devon Toews are all better right now (I could probably add more names but I'll just name the top ones).

Nurse is one of the best offensive defenseman in the league. He faces the toughest competition while also playing with some of the best players in the NHL. But when we're talking about even strength defense, PP or PK, it's not his thing. If he continues like that, Nurse could reach the 2019-20 John Carlson territory (100% offense, 0% defense).

Lol you mean McDavid is significant better when Nurse is on the Ice. Stats certainly prove that.
Right side we have Barrie, Larsson, Bear and Bouchard who are all better than Dunn who is the 2nd most sheltered player in the league.

LOL That is exactly what shaw weber did.
6 goals to 23 goals

Doughty
6 goals to 16 goals

Now if you really want to see something interesting, look at the best D in the NHL Hedman.

How many of those guys in your list ar on the PP, All of them? Nurse doesnt play our PP hardly at all.
Also he is playing Defense with one of the worst D in the league. Tyson Barrie and he is still not getting scored on.

He’s starting 55% of his shifts in either the neutral zone or his own end of the ice.

On top of that, he’s regularly going up against the other team’s best players. He’s played 229 minutes at 5v5. Here are the forwards he’s played more than 20 minutes against: Mitch Marner, Zach Hyman, Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, and Blake Wheeler. That’s a good group of players and you know how many of them have a 5v5 SF% better than 50.1% when they’re on the ice against Darnell Nurse? Zero. When it’s Nurse on the ice against the other team’s best, the Oilers often win the shot battle.

You play like 80% of the game at even strength, the PP doesn't affect him that much, it's his even strength defensive performance that is an issue. For the "not getting scored on", goals depend of your goalies. If you have a great G (like Smith this year), he'll save you more often. If you have a bad G (Smith last year), you'll look worse.

It's cool to start/ play against stars players but it's about being effective and playing well. Who he plays against depends of Dave Tippett and the coaching staff, it's usage and deployment. Would love to know how much time 97-29 are on the ice with Nurse when they win those "shot battles".

Nurse isn't a disaster defensively, that's not what I'm saying. But he isn't good either and his offensive game doesn't outweigh his defensive liability. It's obviously more difficult when you face the best lines and you don't have a lot of support from your teammates but it is what it is.

See the significant gap in CF%, FF%, SF%, GF%, xGF%, SCF%, HDCF% and HDGF%? It's probably worse than it is in reality but it's pretty obvious he's benefited a lot from 97-29.

What I am saying is Nurse is on the Ice for I think it is 33% of the tope players in the league stats wise in Winnepeg/Toronto from the standings last year and he is playing agaist them and doing great.

Yes because the Oilers 3rd line and 4th line are brutal. In fact our wingers with McDavid when Drai is not there are brutal. Like if Nurse was on Tamp, what would his COrsi be. They have 4 lines rolling. Except for today.

I mean, we can use this argument for every player. Chabot, Hughes, Dahlin would be probably be better on an elite team.

I mean, we can use this argument for every player. Chabot, Hughes, Dahlin would be probably be better on an elite team.

Chabot to me is one of the best D in the league. Tope 10 for sure. That guy rocks.Hughes is a defensive nightmare and I watch him a lot. I dont really knw what is going on in Buffalo right now, like they have some talent.

Nurse is having a really good season, but Dunn has been elite during the two previous seasons. I wouldn't trade him and two other solid pieces for Nurse one year removed from UFA

Dunn was the second most sheltered defenseman at 5v5 in the league last year. Nurse played the second most 5v5 minutes in the league last year. One of these is not like the other.

1st pairing >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3rd pairing
