Between him being listed as Finnish and Estonian in various places, I've often wondered if Komarov spoke Russian or Swedish, and whether he'd be a good checking wing to complement an Ovechkin or Backstrom line, but I mostly wondered that before Tom Wilson broke out. These days, if the Isles retain 1M and add a 4th pick, I'm not positive the Caps offer Richard Panik. They might be tempted because cap space, but Panik has nine points this year.

The caps shouldn’t want komarov at league minimum. He’s not an NHL caliber player at this point.

Speaking of panik, another underrated caps player. Really solid underlying numbers.

Yeah. I like him a lot, and I think he brings a lot of different skill sets that justify his paycheck, but if they want to give big raises and long term deals to Ovechkin and Vrana at the same time, under a flat cap, then Panik is probably available.

Vranas P/60 are insane the biggest issue is that he plays 3rd line minutes not top line minutes

Not sure if they've been keeping up with it, but they were running a line in a few games I watched earlier this year of Panik - Eller - Sheary and holy sh*t was I impressed by it. The stats really backed it up, too.

Capitals love the "old school" beat you into the ground hockey but they dont realize how they won their cup. For years they would play guys like Alzner but refused to play youth. THEN we played Vrana Stephenson Boyd Bura (4thliner) Djoo....they won a cup. its always great to have young guy. Right now Fehervary would be this teams 3rd best Dman and hes wasting years in the AHL. next year Alexeyev will be NHL who is better than Fehervary.... Nardella is also really good but he will never play an NHL game... FFS Siegenthaler is great. Protas imo should be playing bottom 6. big guy reminds me of a better Sanford..(another player we gave up on). i wish we never signed Dillon...

that's what most fans don't get. I think vrana had more to do with the caps winning the cup than trotz. If he was never inserted into the top 6 Im not sure they would have won...

Its extremely frustrating when coaches don't ice the best lineup with the personnel they have available. If they ice the best lineup and still lose, fine but playing inferior players because of "intangibles" and grit is self defeating.

i guess i would rather use the farm if i comes down to filling a position. look at Miller for the Rangers that easily could be Siegenthaler or Fehervary right now
